Xiaomi seemingly confirms that a Mi Mix Fold global model is not forthcoming
Last week, it emerged that Xiaomi might be planning to release the Mi Mix Fold globally. Apparently, the model surfaced on an Indian IMEI database bearing the model number M2011J18G, with the G suffix confirming it as a global variant. However, Nils Ahrensmeier of TechnikNews claims that this sighting is a red herring.
Writing on Twitter, Ahrensmeier stated the following:
No, there won't be a #MiMixFold Global Launch this year. Official Statement from Xiaomi (Germany).
No global launch does not mean that Xiaomi will only sell the Mi Mix Fold in China, though. For example, the device may still arrive in India, but not Germany or the rest of the Eurozone. Strangely, Xiaomi's global Twitter channel acknowledged the existence of the Mi Mix Fold when it was announced on March 30.
At the time, Xiaomi tweeted that it would be 'releasing a special edition Mi Mix Fold very soon', which suggests that it planned to launch the device outside China at some stage. Xiaomi has not provided any details since though, unfortunately.
