Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is tipped to launch as the lightest and slimmest foldable smartphone of 2022

Xiaomi is projected to launch a foldable smartphone that, like its conventional counterpart the 12 Ultra, may launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor, thereby potentially making it the most cutting-edge flexible-display device on its launch. The tipster Ice Universe also now endorses earlier rumors of additional upgrades for the second-gen Mix-series variant.

The reliable leaker now echoes previous tips pointing to refinements in terms of weight and thickness in the Mix Fold 2 compared to its predecessors. Then again, Ice Universe seems to go further this time in asserting that it will also be thinner and lighter than anything else in its category on the market in 2022.

They may include new devices such as Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold4 and Google's Pixel Fold/Notepad as well as existing models such as the OPPO Find N.

On that note, Ice Universe also now backs the Mix Fold 2 to adopt the upgraded, somewhat shorter form-factor pioneered by the latter that improves the proportions of an inward-folding phablet's external or 'cover' screen.

This might be a welcome change from the original Mix Fold, which is indeed so tall and skinny as to make its secondary display less usable. Its successor has been predicted to launch at the same time as the 12 Ultra, although Ice Universe is now less certain of this timeline in their latest Weibo post on the subject.
