The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 and, more recently, the Huawei P50 Pocket, may spark a new wave of foldable smartphones with their clamshell (or 'vertical') form-factor. According to Digital Chat Station, both OPPO and Xiaomi are slated to blow both devices out of the water in 2022, if not especially early in the year.
These new claims do make sense, as both OEMs are now the proud makers of their analogous, if more book-like, flagships. OPPO's first-gen clamshell might be particularly interesting, as it already seems its Find N might have spearheaded an upgrade in terms of foldable design already.
The eminent tipster also asserts that each new device from both OEMs will have Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors to drive 120Hz FHD+ displays, and are to have a 50MP main camera apiece.
However, Digital Chat Station also now believes that their batteries will not hold out for long, due to a decision on the part of both companies to keep their inaugural clamshells as thin and compact as possible.
