Last week, Xiaomi started rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update to Global ROM units of the Helio G90-powered Redmi Note 9. The company is now expanding that to include other models of the phone, while also starting the much-awaited rollout for the Note 9's close sibling, the Redmi Note 9S.
The MIUI 12.5 update is now rolling out to the Indonesian model of the Redmi Note 9. The update carries the version number "V12.5.1.0 RJOIDXM" and delivers the August security patch. The OTA weighs in at 2.2 GB as it also brings the full Android 11 OS upgrade. This rollout is now in the stable stage and should be available to all owners of this model now.
The Redmi Note 9S is finally receiving the MIUI 12.5 update as well. Unlike the update for the Indonesian Redmi Note 9, however, this is a limited rollout. It will likely take a few days to get to the full public stage. This update is for the European ROM model of the Redmi Note 9S and arrives with the build number "MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJWEUXM", an 856 MB download size, and the July security patch.
