After sending out the MIUI 12.5 update to the Redmi Note 10, Xiaomi is now doing the same for owners of the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9. New MIUI 12.5 updates are rolling out to the Global ROM models of those two phones, with July security patches in tow.
Xiaomi sent out the MIUI 12.5 update to the Redmi Note 10 a few days ago, and has now taken to gracing owners of the Redmi Note 9 with a similar update.
Xiaomi has now begun sending out the MIUI 12.5 update to the Redmi Note 9 codenamed "Merlin". This is an early build and arrives with the build number "V12.5.1.0.RJOMIXM", denoting that it's the very first build and is meant for Global ROM models of the phone. The OTA is an 823 MB download and also delivers the July security patch.
Similarly, Xiaomi is rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update to the Redmi 9. This update is also for the Global ROM model of the budget phone and arrives with the build number "MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJCMIXM". This update also brings the July security patch, as well as improvements to security and system performance. Sadly, though, it doesn't seem to fix third-party launcher compatibility issues. Owners of the Redmi 9 just have to watch out for the 636 MB OTA to get the upgrade.
