Deal | WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD prices slashed by up to US$100
Western Digital has revised the prices for its “irrationally fast” WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSDs since Mark Cerny announced he had chosen this particular model for expanding the storage of his own personal PlayStation 5 console. WD has discounted all three of its SN850 drives, with or without heatsink, making them a very attractive purchase prospect for PS5 owners.
The 500 GB WD_BLACK SN850 is the cheapest option, and it is currently priced at US$119.99 (formerly US$149.99). An extra US$20 has to be paid for the model with a heatsink, but for US$139.99 shoppers will get a WD SSD that is capable of 4,100 MB/s write performance and a very useful 7,000 MB/s sequential read rate.
The next SKU in the stack is the 1 TB WD_BLACK SN850, which is now priced at US$199.99 without heatsink and US$229.99 with heatsink. This means buyers will save US$30 or US$20, respectively, on the previous prices. The 1 TB variant can manage 5,300 MB/s write and 7,000 MB/s read and is the best option in terms of cost per GB and maximum write/read performance.
Last but far from least is the very tempting 2 TB WD_BLACK SN850. Western Digital has knocked a whopping US$100 off both options for this drive, leaving price tags of US$429.99 (without heatsink) and US$449.99 (with heatsink). The 2 TB model can offer 5,100 MB/s write and 7,000 MB/s read speeds, thus easily outpacing the PS5’s 5.5 GB/s-capable SSD.
