The Video Electronics Standards Association (or VESA) is the body that can confer official certifications for state-of-the art quality standards such as DisplayHDR on new screens. Its latest update to the criteria by which they are granted is called version 1.1. It calls for ultra-modern specs such as active dimming, as well as tougher yardsticks for color gamut and luminance.

Trade war journal: Japan resumes high-tech chemical exports with South Korea

Japan claims that it never imposed an export ban on South Korea, explaining that export approvals now require a period of 4-5 weeks, or roughly the same period of time that has passed since the escalation of the diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea. The new shipment is supposed to be sent out in 4 weeks, so Samsung, LG and SK Hynix might experience slight manufacturing schedule delays.

The latest iteration of the DisplayPort standard will allow for 80 Gbps bandwidths that enable support for 8K, 10K and even compressed 16K resolutions.
