At the heart of the Optix MAG301CR is a VA panel that operates natively at 2,560 x 1,080 pixels (WFHD). The 30-inch display has a 21:9 aspect ratio, while MSI promises that it has a 3,000:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, the panel covers the entire sRGB colour space and 98% of DCI-P3, making the MAG301CR ideal for video and photo editing.
The wide aspect ratio and 30-inch panel size should make the MAG301CR a great candidate for multitasking. MSI is primarily pitching the MAG301CR at gamers though, with the panel also featuring a 200 Hz peak refresh rate and 1 ms response times. The inclusion of AMD FreeSync should help minimise screen tearing, too.
It is worth keeping in mind that MSI only markets the MAG301CR as being "HDR-ready". The panel is not certified by any HDR standards, either. In terms of I/O, the MAG301CR features two HDMI 2.0b ports, one DisplayPort 1.2a port and a single USB Type-C port. The latter doubles as an alternative DisplayPort connection, while there is also a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones or external speakers. Finally, MSI has included three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports, one Type-B and the others Type-A. MSI is yet to confirm pricing or availability, though. However, we doubt that the MAG301CR will come cheap.
