MSI is updating its compact desktop gaming rigs with Intel’s freshly announced Comet Lake-S CPUs. The new console-like slim systems are part of the MEG Trident X 10th family which includes three models with different configurations ranging from mid-tier to high-end specs.
As far as compactness goes, the new systems appear to be as slim as the previous versions, and their weight is about the same at 14.44 lbs. In order to support the latest CPUs, MSI also upgraded the motherboard, which now has a Z490 chipset. Users can choose between the i7-10700K(F) and i9-10900K processors. The more affordable configurations come with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, while the high-end one benefits from 64 GB. GPU options include the RTX 2070 Super and the RTX 2080 Ti variants, and the storage side is covered by either a single 1 TB NVMe SSD or a 1TB NVMe SSD + 1 TB HDD combo.
Other standard features offered with all three models include 2.5 GbE + Wi-Fi 6 support, Nahimic audio enhancer + Realtek 7.1 HD Audio DAC, HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs, plus a generous port selection with 5x audio jacks + Optical S/PDIF out, ethernet jack, and 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 / 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 / 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 / 3x USB-A 2.0 / 1x Thunderbolt 3 connectors. The systems also come with a separate 650W PSU brick and bonus mouse + keyboard. Customization fans will also appreciate the RGB lighting effects for the front of the case, CPU cooler and GPU coolers.
No price points revealed as of yet, but the new MEG Trident X 10th should see availability in early June.
