NVIDIA has issued its TV devices with a new update. This version of SHIELD Experience (8.1.1) includes a host of new features and bug-fixes. The most prominent of these may be the limited-time opportunity to upgrade the free GeForce Now subscription to a Founder's membership instead. The upgrade also adds XBOX Elite 2 controller support, as well as improved multiple Bluetooth device connections.

SHIELD TV is NVIDIA's own brand of game- and content-streaming devices. It was updated with new variants, the 2019 TV and TV Pro, last year. Now, these products, as well as the rest of their series, has a fresh version of their software, SHIELD Experience.

This upgrade (v8.1.1) includes a time-sensitive invite to upgrade the free GeForce Now subscription for which every SHIELD TV owner is eligible to a "priority-access"-laden Founder's membership version. Otherwise, the update fixes a number of issues and bugs that may be encountered when using SHIELD sticks or boxes on a day-to-day basis.

For example, it addresses the problem with the new NVIDIA SHIELD TVs' Toblerone-shaped remote in which its battery may experience drain while its IR blaster is on. The same remotes can also now control the volume of Logitech Z906 speaker systems via the same mode.

In addition, a bug in which the detection of Dolby Vision on some TVs from Sony, Vizio or Phillips was impaired has been fixed in SHIELD Experience v8.1.1. The full list of fixes and enhancements can be found on NVIDIA's update page for the relevant devices.
