OLED is dimmer than the IPS option. The gen-to-gen updates over 10th gen Ice Lake are massive in terms of graphics performance, but everything else remains essentially unchanged. If you're not doing any gaming or picture editing, then last year's model will be more than enough.

Business Chromebook. The Spin 713 offers a 3:2 touchscreen, good battery life and USB-C ports with support for Power Delivery. The 800-Euro (~$970) convertible is not one of the cheapest Chromebooks (in the US, the pricing is much better: $529).

Tiger Lake with a large battery and many connections. With the current VIA 14, Schenker offers an extremely light 14-inch Ultrabook that relies on modern Tiger Lake processors including Thunderbolt 4/USB 4. The Full HD panel is also very efficient and enables runtimes of more than 15 hours together with the 73 Wh battery.

The thinnest ThinkPad has to make some compromises. The new ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga uses expensive materials and is Lenovo’s new flagship business convertible. It is also the thinnest ThinkPad so far, but that results in some compromises, for example in terms of performance as well as input devices.

White featherweight. Take a ThinkPad X1 Nano, remove some features, and paint it white. Lenovo didn't do that, obviously, but the result would probably look very similar to the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon. Lenovo's cheaper ultralight laptop can convince in our test - but with some weaknesses.

Lighter than a carton of milk. The 14-inch ExpertBook weighs less than 1000 grams (2.2 lbs) and gets a significant boost in performance this year, thanks to a new Tiger Lake chip. Moreover, the Asus laptop now comes with Thunderbolt 4 instead of Thunderbolt 3 and the display has gotten brighter. More pixels, better graphics performance. Lenovo replaces the 1080p touchscreen with a 4K model and upgrades the processor to an Intel Core i7-1185G7. Our update to the existing review should clarify whether the more expensive high-end configuration is worth the money and whether the 2-in-1 can really benefit from more pixels and a theoretically better processor.

16:10 is back! Lenovo returns to the roots of the X1 series with the new ThinkPad X1 Nano and includes a 13-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It weighs less than 1 kg, so it is a very interesting device for mobile users, but the keyboard does not meet the high standard we are used from ThinkPads. Update: New information about the keyboard

Doubling Down on Dual Displays. Asus is starting off CES 2021 with a bang by improving upon its dual-screen 14-inch subnotebook with brighter displays, new hinges, and faster performance. It mostly works if you can deal with some inherent limitations.

Now with genuine leather. Lenovo's expansive lineup of 14-inch laptops just got even bigger with the introduction of the IdeaPad Slim 9i. This leather-clad Intel Evo laptop looks great and classy at first glance, but the shallow keyboard and clickpad bring the whole thing down.
