Despite its good OLED display, impressive Intel Core Ultra 7 and great sound, there are quite a few things you may want to pay attention to before purchasing the new Matebook 14. It's the smaller details which taint the laptop's total impression.

Still great without Mini-LED. Lenovo's flagship model and closest MacBook Pro 16 competitor packs a ton of power for the size even at the lower-end configuration. At well over $1500, however, it's also one of Lenovo's pricier Yoga laptops.

1,200-nit OLED and Core Ultra 9. The MateBook X Pro is Huawei's flagship laptop and the new 2024 model has had its weight reduced to below 1 kg. In addition, its IPS screen has been swapped out for an OLED touchscreen that can achieve brightness levels of over 1,000 nits and offers an impressive picture quality.

Standstill on the executive floor? Lenovo has dropped the name Yoga from its flagship convertible for business customers, now calling it the ThinkPad X1 2in1. AI marketing aside, its new Meteor Lake processor offers little performance and its high-resolution OLED touchscreen isn't entirely good. Lenovo also offers an optional haptic touchpad without TrackPoint buttons.

Core Ultra 9 Meteor Lake update. The latest Alienware x16 R2 gets a new integrated NPU for Windows AI acceleration, but it unfortunately comes at the cost of gaming performance. Users may still want to consider the 2023 Alienware x16 R1 for this reason.

Like an XPS 13, but better. Lenovo's ThinkBook 13x G4 is a high-quality and compact subnotebook that delivers solid results in almost all disciplines. The IPS screen in 3:2 format is bright and offers 120 Hz, while the Core Ultra 5 125H is fast and the battery runtimes are also good. However, the ThinkBook falls short in terms of the keyboard and maintenance options.

A perfect all-rounder? The name AtomMan stands for the new high-end series from Minisforum. It starts with the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti, which is designed as a compact and powerful PC for demanding tasks. Back to basics. The ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 G4 is a no-frills convertible spruced up with Intel's latest 14th gen Meteor Lake CPUs. It's comfortable, travel-friendly and easy to use, but graphics performance is a little slow relative to the $1200 asking price.

Up to 64 GB RAM. Dell has created the new XPS 13 out of its old XPS 13 Plus and—the same as with its larger siblings—this means it has an unconventional keyboard and an annoying touchbar. The new Core Ultra processor from Intel delivers decent everyday performance, however, its IPS display is a lot dimmer than advertized.

From Raptor Lake-H to Meteor Lake-H. The XPS-inspired Precision has been refreshed this year with the latest 14th gen Intel Core Ultra CPUs. There are unfortunately no new GPU options, but performance-per-volume is still impressive nonetheless.

Intel or AMD after all? The IdeaPad Pro 5 16 is a large multimedia laptop fitted with one of the latest Meteor Lake processors, a 120-Hz display and modern connectivity options. However, Lenovo also offers an AMD model and we want to find out which one is the better choice.

Quieter, longer-lasting, and more efficient. When compared to the older Core i7-1255U, the new Core Ultra 5 125U doesn't offer all that much in terms of overall performance. Power efficiency, however, gets a big boost for improved fan noise and battery life.

High performance-per-volume. One of Dell's smallest Precision laptops gets the Intel AI treatment. Otherwise, raw performance hasn't improved by significant or even moderate margins over last year's model.

Now with Advanced Optimus, but the power supply is too weak. Lenovo has improved its multimedia Yoga Pro 9i 16 flagship of the G9 generation in several areas. The 3.2K mini LED panel with 1200 nits is optionally matte and accompanied by Advanced Optimus. We put the most powerful configuration, which has the Core Ultra 9 185H and GeForce RTX 4070 laptop, to the test.

Price performance champion. A metal case, Core Ultra 7, 32 GB of RAM, a 3K IPS display, and a good keyboard - the RedmiBook Pro 16 offers all that for less than 1,000 Euros (~$1,066). In addition, a large 99-Wh battery ensures an extremely long battery life and Thunderbolt 4 is also included.

Much quieter than before. The dual-screen Yoga Book 9i is back this year with new Meteor Lake-U CPUs and integrated Arc graphics. The differences and performance advantages between the 2023 and 2024 models, however, aren't what we were expecting.

Now even faster and more power efficient. The Latitude 9450 2-in-1 may be modestly faster and longer-lasting, but it doesn't do enough outside of the CPU to distinguish itself from the older and visually identical Latitude 9440 2-in-1.

Meteor Lake pared down. The Galaxy Book4 Pro 14 is Samsung's slim and light notebook for everyday use. It features a recent Meteor Lake processor as well as a high-resolution 120-Hz OLED touch screen. Both performance and battery life are no more than average.
