Realme X passes BIS certification in India, launch imminent

The upcoming Realme X smartphone recently made its way to BIS certification indicating that an Indian launch is imminent. The Realme X is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 730 chipset and will feature a 48 MP primary shooter. The smartphone is expected to be launched at an event in China on May 15.

OnePlus 7 Pro won't have official IP67 certification despite ad showing it dunked in water

OnePlus seems to have kicked an own goal in its latest marketing teaser for the OnePlus 7 Pro. The Chinese company has posted a short video clip on its Twitter feed showing its latest smartphone being dropped into a bucket, implying water resistance and an IP67 or IP68 rating. The problem is, it hasn’t received any such certification, nor does OnePlus plan to seek certification.

The new ThinkBook S models may replace the 13 and 14-inch Ideapad S-series models, at least in China. They appear to have updated designs with improved metal chassis, slim lateral bezels and displays that can unfold flat on the table, while the specs include Intel Core i7-8565U CPUs, up to 16 HB RAM and up to 512 GB NVMe SSDs. The more expensive variants may integrate discrete AMD Radeon 540X GPUs.

Xiaomi reports smartphone shipments of over 27.5 million units for the first quarter of 2019

Xiaomi has posted a voluntary announcement to the website of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited in regard to smartphone shipments. According to the statement made by the Chinese manufacturer, more than 27.5 million units were shipped in Q1 2019. Some market research analyst estimates had offered lower figures.

Even though the OnePlus 7 Pro 12 GB RAM version has similar hardware specs compared to Samsung's Galaxy S10+ model, the GeekBench scores appear to slightly favor the Chinese smartphone. The A9 was added to OPPO's store without an official announcement, and the store page does not even reveal the full specs. OPPO most likely used the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC to power the A9 and added 6 GB of RAM plus 128 GB of storage. Also included are a large 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS screen and a 4,020 mAh battery, together with a 16 MP selfie cam and a 16 MP + 2 MP dual-cam on the back.

A photograph of a man holding what is claimed to be the upcoming “Redmi 855” flagship smartphone in his hand has been uploaded to the Chinese social network site Weibo. The whole thing seems incredibly spurious at first until it’s pointed out that the man in question just happens to be the Redmi CEO, Lu Weibing.
