5G on the cheap: Xiaomi to launch the Mi Mix 3 5G on May 2
Fancy a 5G smartphone but not the exorbitant prices that the likes of Samsung is charging for the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G? Well, the Mi Mix 3 5G may be the answer, and you do not have to wait much longer before you can get your hands on one. Xiaomi and Swiss carrier Sunrise have today announced that they will be bringing the device to Switzerland on May 2 where it will cost CHF 847 (~ US$830).
This seems a touch expensive, but thankfully this appears to be Switzerland specific pricing. The global launch price should be around €599 (~ US$671), with Xiaomi selling the Mi Mix 3 5G in Onyx Black and Sapphire Blue like it has for the global variants of the Mi Mix 3.
The Swiss release should be the start of the Mi Mix 3 5G's global release throughout May. Xiaomi is yet to confirm country-specific release dates though. The Mi Mix 3 5G shares most of its components with the Mi Mix 3, except that it features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC rather than the Snapdragon 845 that the regular Mi Mix 3 does. The Snapdragon 855 integrates the Qualcomm X50 modem, which allows Xiaomi to bring 5G to the Mi Mix 3. The refreshed device should also have better battery life and performance than the regular Mi Mix 3 thanks to its newer SoC. We shall confirm whether this is the case if we can get our hands on Xiaomi's affordable 5G flagship.
