While ZTE is still recouping from last year's bans, the company is certainly not holding back when it comes to 5G tech, as the company is ready to launch its first 5G-comaptible handheld in a few weeks. The Axon 10 Pro integrates Qualcomm's X50 5G modem and the Snapdragon 855 SoC, which can be couple with up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

The Axon 10 Pro is ZTE’s first 5G-compatible handheld and the model just popped up on Chonese retailer JD.com, which is currently taking pre-orders, but the actual prices are not yet mentioned. This model topped the AnTuTu benchmarks last week with an impressive 381,136 score, beating the Meizu 16s and the Mi 9 from Xiaomi.

What exactly makes the ZTE Axon 10 Pro so fast? Apart from the high-end Snapdragon 855 SoC which can be coupled with up to 12 GB RAM and up to 256 GB storage, the handheld is among the first ones to feature the F2FS file system for improved read/write speeds. Additionally, ZTE provides a highly-optimized MiFavor 9.0 UI on top of Android 9.0. As any respectable flagship, the Axon 10 Pro comes with an FHD+ 6.47-inch AMOLED curved display compatible with the HDR10 standard, and also integrates a teardrop notch for a 20 MP selfie cam, plus a fingerprint reader.

The back of the phone features a triple-cam setup with a 48 MP main sensor, 20 MP wide angle shooter and a telephoto lens hooked to an 8 MP sensor. It also includes a 4,000 mAh battery with 18 W charger and, of course, the X50 5G modem from Qualcomm.

There are variants with 6  GB / 128 GB, 8 GB / 256 GB and 12 GB / 256 GB options available for reservations right now, and JD.com will begin shipping them on May 7.
