Xiaomi's Redmi 855 confirmed to feature pop-up camera; more key specifications revealed

Earlier this month we reported on a mysterious Xiaomi/Redmi device that was speculated to be the forthcoming Redmi 855 smartphone. The top edge of the handset had what seemed like a housing for a pop-up camera, which came as a surprise as Redmi chief Lui Weibing had already declared that the sub-brand wouldn’t use this particular feature.

But a further tie-in with the latest Avengers movie has proved that declaration to be typical Xiaomi smoke-and-mirrors misdirection, as the pop-up camera is one of the stars of a promotional video along with various Marvel superheroes.

Along with the now-confirmed pop-up camera, some more key specifications of the Redmi 855 have been shared to join the ones we recently reported on. The flagship smartphone will have a 4000 mAh battery, 18 W fast charging, a glass body with Gorilla Glass 6 protecting the display, an optical fingerprint scanner, and 6 GB of RAM. The Redmi 855 is expected to come with an AMOLED screen.
