Lenovo has constructed its ThinkPad X1 Extreme new. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 is supposed to take on the Dell XPS series. It changes to the 16:10 aspect ratio, but with a different screen size compared to the Dell competitors. Lenovo also upgrades the GPUs to up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q.

In earlier years, the energy efficient "Ultra Low Voltage" CPUs of the U series hardly offered any performance, but manufacturers still packed them into workstation laptops. Even though the modern U processors are still considerably slower than H CPUs, at this point their absolute performance is high enough for new models such as the ThinkPad P15s Gen 2 to be able to deliver sufficient power for CAD applications.

Lenovo is now offering an upgraded ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 with 11th gen Core and Xeon options along with NVIDIA RTX A5000 graphics. The ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 features a 17.3-inch IPS display that is available in UHD and FHD variants. Prices for the ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 start from US$1,779.

For the first time since its original release in 2018, Lenovo is not merely updating the ThinkPad P1. The new version of the premium mobile workstation, the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 4, is a complete redesign. A large 16 inch 16:10 screen, vapor chamber cooling, top-firing speakers, 5G, a 1080p webcam and Tiger Lake H as well as up to the Nvidia RTX A5000 - Lenovo has packed the ThinkPad P1 G4 with new features.

Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 with internal upgrades over the 2020 version. The 2021 ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 continues to offer the GPU in a daughter board and comes in several configuration options including Intel 11th gen Core and Xeon GPUs, NVIDIA RTX A5000 graphics, and UHD displays in both OLED and IPS variants.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock is now official. It comes with a wide selection of ports, including HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, USB Type-C and more. Users can buy the dock for US$419 in Q4 2021.

The trend for laptop displays is currently moving towards a longer 16:10 aspect ratio. The result is smaller bezels below and above the screen, more space for documents - and much better usability in tablet mode. This is shown by the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 2, for example.

The second generation of the ThinkPad P14s is equipped with Tiger Lake CPUs and an Nvidia Quadro T500. In this case, the latter is also what will persuade users to opt for the new model.

Leaked ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 specifications indicate quite a massive internal upgrade for Lenovo's multimedia flagship laptop. The specs indicate Intel Tiger Lake-H CPU and, for the first time, NVIDIA Ampere RTX 30 Super Laptop GPU options. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 is also slated to offer a slimmer chassis, 16:10 2.5K and 4K display options, 90 Whr battery, FHD webcam, backlit keyboard with 1.5 mm key travel, and more.

The X1 Extreme is among the few Lenovo ThinkPads that have not been updated yet this year. The upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 seems to be a huge redesign, as a leaked video shows wide speaker grills and a taller screen.

Flagship models are usually very expensive, but they usually offer special features or high-end components in return. This used to be the case for Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 models as well, but it seems like the priorities are starting to shift.

Until 2018, Lenovo did not change a lot when it comes to the typing feel of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. Since Lenovo has reduced the travel with the X1 Carbon Gen 7, it seems like Pandora's box has been opened. With the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9, there are big changes yet again.

Lenovo's new ThinkPad X1 Yoga is a very good business convertible, which got a major update with Tiger-Lake CPUs and 16:10 screens. However, there are still problems with the BIOS and the performance utilization when you stress CPU and iGPU simultaneously.

Lenovo equips the second generation of the ThinkPad L13 Yoga compact business convertible with an up-to-date Tiger Lake CPU and faster connections including a Thunderbolt 4 port. The convertible's major advantage is still its extensive range of connectivity options.

The brand-new ThinkPad X1 Yoga G6 has arrived in our editorial office and it is immediately noticeable that it is better than the more expensive ThinkPad x1 Titanium Yoga in pretty much every way.

On first glance, the ThinkPad X12 Detachable looks a lot like the ThinkPad X1 Tablet Gen 3. Despite the similarity, the X12 is no direct successor, as it is not an X1 ThinkPad anymore. This is not necessarily a bad thing: Since it is not a flagship model anymore, the ThinkPad X12 Detachable is much more affordable and thus more competitive.

Lenovo expands its ThinkPad X1-series with the X1 Titanium Yoga, an expensive business convertible. It is just 11.5 mm thin and also the thinnest ThinkPad so far, but you have to make compromises.

The concept of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is innovative, but neither the hardware nor the software are ready for a foldable convertible. Our review reveals even further problems, and above all, the X1 Fold is simply not fun to use on a daily basis.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 1 is the lightest ThinkPad laptop to this day. With a new deal in Lenovo's US store, it is now more affordable than it has ever been before.

AMD Ryzen CPUs have taken parts of the market by storm since Ryzen 4000 came out. One area that has been left largely untouched: Mobile workstation. Too bad, as the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 1 shows that AMD Ryzen and workstation could go great together.

The display-standard specialist group TÜV Rheinland has announced its new Dynamic Privacy Filter certification, and that 2021's ThinkPads X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga are the first 2 devices to officially match up to it. The 2 business PCs have done so by passing a battery of tests on their ability to protect sensitive data under a variety of lighting conditions.

Despite its designation, the ThinkPad T15g is a full-fledged mobile workstation and shares the chassis construction with the ThinkPad P15. The design was refreshed, but the device still appears pretty outdated due to massive bezels. There is also an issue with the keyboard and coil whine is a problem as well.

In addition to replacing the battery, the usual maintenance tasks of a laptop also includes cleaning the fan - or fans in the case of models with a dual fan design. This was not an easy task in the ThinkPad laptops of the P series until now. But this is changing with the new Lenovo ThinkPad P15 Gen 1.

Originally slated for release in February, Lenovo has released their new 2021 X1 ThinkPad now in early March. Both the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 and ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6 feature new 14 inch 16:10 screens. As usual with Lenovo, their starting prices are sky high at the moment.

One part of the AMD Ryzen 5000 lineup for 2021 is still not officially announced: The Ryzen Pro CPUs for business laptops. We have already seen the flagship AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U in action through some leaked benchmarks. The spec-sheet of a recently announced Lenovo ThinkPad reveals specifications of both the 5850U and the six-core Ryzen 5 Pro 5650U.

Lenovo has introduced an upgraded ThinkPad X13 Gen 2. This year, we get to see internal upgrades to both Intel Tiger Lake and AMD Ryzen 5000 platforms. The new ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 offers 16:10 display options, Wi-Fi 6e, optional 5G connectivity, and comes in Black and Storm Grey color choices along with Lenovo's suite of ThinkShield privacy features.

Some of the 2021 ThinkPads have been redesigned by Lenovo. Not so the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 and T15 Gen 2: Both still use the same chassis as their predecessors. They are new on the inside though, as both will be offered with the newest Intel and AMD processors.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 1 was one of the best business laptops of 2020. The successor Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 2 does introduce a new design as well as a platform update with AMD Ryzen 5000 and Intel Tiger Lake, but it still uses 16:9 screens, unlike the new X13. Like the X13, the keyboard travel is reduced.

Lenovo has launched three new mobile workstations called the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 2, ThinkPad P14si Gen 2 and ThinkPad P15s Gen 2. They come with several enterprise-centric features such as an Nvidia (Quadro) T500 GPU, LTE connectivity, and a Smart Card Reader. ThinkPad P14si Gen 2 and P15s will be retail for US$1,389 in March 2021, and the ThinkPad P14si in May 2021 for US$1,169

Lenovo has announced a spec refresh for its affordable business-class ThinkPad L14 and L15. The main changes are updates for AMD Ryzen 5000 and Intel 11th Gen processors and optional Nvidia MX450 graphics.

Lenovo has upgraded the ThinkPad X13 Yoga to a Gen 2 version. The ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 2 now offers Intel Tiger Lake vPro and several 16:10 display options in FHD+ and QHD+ resolutions with low blue light technology and optional PrivacyGuard. The new X13 Yoga also bundles Lenovo's familiar ThinkShield suite of security solutions.

Notebookcheck had the chance to talk with Michael Weigelt (Business Development Manager) from Lenovo Germany for the launch of the new ThinkPad X1 Nano. In addition to the X1 Nano, we also talked about the ThinkPad X1-series and ThinkPads in general.

In our review, the Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen 2 with the Tiger Lake CPU shows that Intel is getting back up on its feet. The decision to buy comes down to details, some of which speak against the AMD variant.
