The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 is the first ThinkPad laptop with AMD CPUs and a 16:10 monitor. This makes it one of the most interesting business ThinkPads of this year.

The story of AMD processors in ThinkPads dates back to about 10 years ago. For a long time, however, the red giant's chips only made it into the lowest-priced ThinkPad laptops. The turning point and thus the first genuine enterprise models reached the market in 2017. But even those models still presented compromises at that time. For instance, they didn't come with the better displays that were installed in some of the Intel models.

But this year, this injustice is finally over; there's parity between Intel and AMD ThinkPads across most features now. Predictably, Lenovo has started to switch its ThinkPad laptops to 16:10 displays this year - but primarily in the premium models of the X1 series. These continue to be available exclusively with Intel CPUs.

There is one exception, though: The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 has also made the leap to the more convenient format. This makes it the first ThinkPad laptop with a taller aspect ratio and optional AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs. Our recent review of this laptop reveals the following: This combination is impressive, and the versatile business subnotebook achieves a high score of 91%. There really aren't any major shortcomings.

You can find out all about the ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 in our review, and also keep in mind that there are currently some big discounts in Lenovo's online store on all the different configurations available for the X13 Gen 2 AMD, with prices starting at around $840 for the base configuration (Ryzen 5 Pro 5650U, Windows 10 Home, 8 GB of LPDDR4X-4266MHz RAM (soldered), 256 GB of PCIe SSD storage).
