A critical vulnerability, Sinkclose, has been discovered in AMD processors. The flaw allows attackers to gain near-total control of affected systems. While AMD is working on patches, users are urged to update their systems immediately to mitigate risks of data theft, system takeover, espionage, and possible infrastructure disruption.

The entry-level HP Victus 15 makes a solid student productivity laptop with the performance chops to do a bit of gaming on the side. Now is the time to snipe some deals for the current gen processors, as the next gen Ryzen 9000 processors prepare to make their debut at the end of this month. At $464.99, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D might not be the fastest gaming processor, but it sure seems like a worthy all-rounder.

The AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is one of the two Zen 5 Strix Point APUs that AMD showed in June at Computex. Since the APU’s announcement, pre-release benchmark results have kept popping up. Golden Pig Upgrade, a well-known Weibo tipster, reports that AMD is getting ready to launch a new Hawk Point APU. It will reportedly be called the Ryzen 7 8745HS, and the processor is said to be identical to the Ryzen 7 8845HS but without the XDNA NPU, potentially making it offer a better value than the identical chip.

According to the leaked benchmark results, the Ryzen 7 9700X enjoys a double-digit single-threaded and a moderate multi-threaded gain over its predecessor.

Japanese retailer Oliospec is pre-selling the Ryzen 5 8500G mini PCs at just above $1,000. The Streacom FC8 fanless case is on the expensive side, but it manages to keep the processor at 75°C under load. Oliospec also provides a ASRock B650i Lightning WiFi motherboard with 32 GB DDR5-6000 RAM and 1 TB SSD storage.

The AMD Ryzen 5 9600‌‌‌X with its 6x Zen 5 cores and a boost clock of 5.4 GHz is the least powerful member of the Zen 5 family. However, even with its 6 cores, the CPU could overtake the Intel Core i9-14900KS in single-core workloads per a valid Geekbench 6 benchmark result.

The Geekom AX7 Pro is a new mini PC from the brand, and it seems to be just a different variant of the AX8 Pro that was recently released. While the latter came with the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, the newer compact computer sports the Ryzen 9 7940HS.

Previously teased at Computex 2024, the Xyber XPC is now inching towards being a real product. The mini PC is set to be available with AMD Hawk Point and Strix Point Ryzen 7 processors, but what really makes it unique is the Cybertruck chassis. A Lenovo laptop powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 has popped up on Geekbench. The system scored 2,544 points in the single-core test and 12,745 in the multi-core test. These benchmark scores are lower than expected, but given that it’s one of the early benchmark results, it could be because of low optimization or power limitation.

The GPD DUO just got an official product page listing all of its specifications. The HP Envy x360 2-in-1 features an AMD Ryzen 5 8640HS processor, 16 GB of memory, as well as a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and it's currently discounted to just under $500 at Best Buy. If the posted numbers are anything to go by, the 9950X will be an absolute beast of a CPU, having almost doubled the 7950X's performance in certain tests. However, it should be noted that synthetic benchmarks are not necessarily indicative of real-world performance, and the tests were themselves pretty workload specific.

The increasingly popular portable console maker ONEXPLAYER is promoting officially refurbished models as well as new ones during its latest Mid-Year 2024 sale. They include devices powered by leading mobile processors from Intel and AMD, such as the 7-inch Mini Pro and latest Ryzen 7 8840U-based 2 Pro.

Geekom has launched the AX8 Pro mini PC, and one of the interesting aspects is the design resemblance to the Intel NUC 13 Pro. The IB200 is a new single-board computer equipped with an AMD APU, which opens up a number of possibilities and allows the use of conventional operating systems.

Minisforum recently unveiled the MS-A1 at Computex 2024, featuring up to an 8-core Ryzen 7 8700G APU, up to 96 GB of DDR5 memory and OCuLink support. Its Intel-based sibling, the MS-01, was launched in late 2023, and rocked an i9-13900H and up to 64 GB of memory, but did not feature OCuLink support. For AMD fans, the MS-A1 sure is a welcome addition to Minisforum's family of mini PCs.

According to AMD’s announcement at Computex 2024, the upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X is faster than the Core i9-14900K in productivity and gaming tasks. However, fans who were waiting for Zen 5 to outdo the Zen 4 X3D chips in gaming are in for disappointment as the Ryzen 9 9950X isn’t expected to beat the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

The AMD Strix Point Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has surfaced on Geekbench courtesy of recently unveiled Asus TUF Gaming A14 and ProArt P16 laptops and first performance numbers seem quite impressive and in line with what we've seen in Zen 4 Dragon Range HX APUs. We also get to see the new RDNA 3.5-based Radeon 890M posting OpenCL numbers exceeding those of a GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q.

ASRock has started to take preorders for DeskMate X600 mini PC in China. While it's larger than the average mini computer, the bigger form factor allows it to deliver desktop-grade performance with desktop-class AMD Ryzen processors. What's more interesting is that it has a slot on the top where you can install a PCIe 4.0x16 extension cable to connect a graphics card, offering better performance than OCuLink.

Blackview, a company known for its smartphones, has launched a new mini PC. Currently starting at $276.99 with a launch promo discount, the MP100 brings AMD Ryzen 7 5700U, support for up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM, 3 TB of max storage, and a 0.726-liter chassis. There are RGB lights, versatile connectivity ports, and a capable cooling system too.

AMD has introduced new Strix Point processors that are weirdly in the Ryzen AI 300 series, skipping 100 and 200. Previous rumors suggested that the APUs would launch as Ryzen AI 100 series instead. Now, a prototype laptop from Computex has confirmed that the company has made a last-minute name change.

The XMG EVO 14 and EVO 15 laptops have gone official with the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H/Ryzen 7 8845HS CPUs and up to 96 GB of RAM. The smaller EVO 14 starts at less than €1,000 ($1,087.49), while the larger EVO 15 costs less than €1,100 for the base configuration (prices inclusive of Value Added Tax).
