Robust. The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme feels at home even in the most adverse environments. The convertible has a robust case, combined with a strong processor and good input devices. But at the price Dell is asking, buyers will certainly have to pay for what they get.

Dual-mode Chromebook… As convertible notebooks continue to pique consumers’ interest, Chromebooks have yet to capitalize on the concept. Lenovo’s N20p flaunts its ability to transform, Yoga- or Flex-style, in pursuit of a piece of the convertible pie. Can it succeed?

Flexibility on a budget. Lenovo's expansive Flex lineup continues with the updated 15.6-inch model in time for the back-to-school season. We check out both the chassis and performance to see if this inexpensive touchscreen notebook is an improvement over first generation Flex models.

Better, thanks to Haswell. HP implanted a new heart in their EliteBooks: Instead of Ivy Bridge processors, now the convertibles are outfitted with Haswell CPUs. This was a worthwhile upgrade, as the renovated devices now offer a longer battery life -- and somewhat stronger performance.

Late Switch? Acer has recently replaced its Clovertrail-generation W510 2-in-1 with the new Acer Aspire Switch 10, a Baytrail-T based Windows 8 PC with similar dockable tablet design. The Acer Aspire Switch 10 will compete directly with what is probably the most successful 2-in-1 yet - the Asus Transformer Book T100. Transformer - The Return. An Android tablet with a keyboard dock is a handy thing. Asus' Transformer pads were always good representatives of this category until now. Why this remains to be true for the Transformer Pad TF103C-1B072A although some compromises have to be made can be read in this test.

Successful merge? The Satellite W30t intends to combine the advantages of a tablet with those of a notebook. Therefore, the device is equipped with an efficient Haswell processor and a conventional hard drive. Is it possible to merge tablet and notebook?

Silent Temptation. The HP Pro X2 410 is not a basic 2-in-1. It’s running a Core i5 CPU, has a fast SSD and is completely fanless. This is a ground-breaking setup, but does it work?

Netbook revisited The Lenovo Ideapad Flex 10 is a small, light, low-cost mini-notebook using the latest Baytrail-M entry-level PC platform. A touchscreen is included, USB3.0 too. Can the Flex 10 convince us that this new take on the netbook is going to be successful?

More Flop than Flip. Sony's unique take on the convertible concept has produced a very nice-looking series of Flip notebooks to compete in the notebook-tablet hybrid space. The Flip 14 is eye candy for sure, but there is more than meets the eye.. and it's not all pretty.

Beautiful design, low performance. Thanks to its 360-degree hinges, the HP Pavilion x360 can function as a laptop or a tablet -- in other words, a convertible PC. That sounds very practical, but in our tests we encountered several weaknesses.

The Atom Renaissance. Windows RT is history – the new entry-level version of the Yoga-series uses Intel's Bay Trail and a full version of Windows 8.1 64-bit. More usage scenarios and more performance also result in a significant drop of the battery runtimes.

A real head-turner. Fujitsu puts a new convertible on the market that woos deep-pocketed business customers with a ULV Core i7, QHD touchscreen, security features and LTE support. How does the rotating joint concept do compared to other business devices? Can its connectivity options and ergonomics stand up to the demands of professionals? Our review tells it all.

All-inclusive. Asus continuously refreshes its Transformer Pad series. The new Transformer Pad TF701T is a high-resolution 10-inch tablet that is supposed to compete with notebooks. It is equipped with a powerful Tegra 4 SoC clocked at 1.9 GHz, 32 GB flash storage and an IPS display, so the review unit might also be interesting for business customers.

Alternative? Not really. The highlight of the Flex 14 is surely its 300-degree swivel screen alongside the related multimedia and presentation options. Lenovo now expands this product line with a weak AMD APU from the E-series. Why this concept does not work can be read here.

Something new? The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S is an old acquaintance. It is now available with current Haswell processors. So, it is time to quickly check what changed.

Last hurrah. Sony launches a convertible dubbed Vaio Fit 11A multi-flip on the market. It provides innumerable configurations for home use, and is likely one of the last devices that the manufacturer brings to the international market. Will Sony leave with a blast?
