The Intel Athena Poster Child. With mobile AMD Ryzen finally catching up to Intel's long-running ULV Core U series, all eyes have been on Ice Lake and Comet Lake-U to see how Intel would respond. Pressure has been on Dell to knock it out of the park with its second generation XPS 13 2-in-1 especially since it is the first to ship with the Ice Lake Core i7-1065G7. The flagship convertible mostly succeeds with a few caveats.

Decent home convertible. Lenovo's IdeaPad Flex 14API features a Ryzen 5 APU, dual-channel RAM, and an NVMe SSD. In addition to finger input, its IPS touchscreen display also supports the optional Lenovo Active Pen 2.

The changing business display. With the Dell Latitude 7200 2-in-1, the Texan manufacturer has a competitor for Microsoft's Surface Pro 6 on the market. Especially corporate customers should be impressed with features such as built-in LTE. The design-related instability of the keyboard represents the biggest disadvantage of this Dell laptop.

Too expensive. The PhilBook Max is a 14.1 inch convertible for just over 400 euros. The equipment is fine, but the manufacturer XIDU unfortunately relies on a dark display and a slow Celeron processor.

Eye candy. HP's Spectre x360 13 is a premium compact convertible that is powerful enough for day to day tasks and challenges, and it is equipped with a highly reflective 1080p display that could have been brighter.

For number games The ZenBook Flip 14 attracts attention, not least because of its numeric keypad, which ASUS integrates within its trackpad. The pretty-looking convertible has a 360° hinge and packs an AMD processor, with a stylish design that puts it on par with its competitors. Ice(Lake)borne. Dell's latest XPS convertible is unlike most Ultrabooks or convertibles we've tested this year simply because it checks off a long laundry list of uncommon features: Ice Lake-U, MagLev keyboard, vapor chamber, 13.4-inch touchscreen, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The result is a travel-friendly convertible with one of the brightest and most well-calibrated displays we've seen for its category. Unfortunately, you'll have to give up some upgrades along the way that may impact longevity.

Expensive. The robust ProBook convertible offers a fast SSD, silent operation and good battery life. The touchscreen can be used with the fingers as well as with a stylus. With a price of about 900 Euros (~$989), the device isn't among the cheap models.
