Quiet evolution. The Kaby Lake i5-equipped version of Dell's XPS 13 subnotebook with FHD display impresses with outstanding battery live, great performance and top-notch ergonomics. The display, however, falls a tad short of our lofty expectations.

War mechs on Speed. Every Fall, we have new versions of single and multiplayer shooter games to evaluate. Alongside the reigning leaders “Battlefield 1” and “Call of Duty Infinite Warfare”, “Titanfall 2” is also seeking to carve out its piece of the gaming pie for 2016. Steeplechase. Asus treats its 12.5-inch Transformer Book to Intel's Skylake generation and also installs a second battery into the keyboard dock. This gives the new Transformer Book longer stamina. However, the newly gained performance cannot really be utilized.

In the shadow of Battlefield 1. Activision launches the latest part of the extremely successful Call of Duty series almost immediately after the launch of EA's excellent World War I shooter. In this benchmark test, we will check whether the graphics can keep up with the main rival or if we are dealing with another frame rate fiasco similar to the predecessor Black Ops 3.

Cheap business laptop. Acer offers the TravelMate P249-M for 550 Euros (~$600). This 14-inch notebook is quiet, packs good battery life and it has a three-year warranty. In addition, this TravelMate has keyboard lighting and a free M.2 slot.

Surface Follower. A 2-in-1 following in the footsteps of the MS Surface Pro 4 will likely be compared to it. Lenovo's convertible features better connectivity and a better SSD, but the display and the cameras are lacking.

Entry-level business companion. This 14-inch Acer model has a lot to offer: simple upgrade options, good battery life, fast SSD and a reliable keyboard. The screen is the only weak point of this package: a TN panel with poor viewing angles.

Ultra thin, ultra quiet. Acer's 14-inch system with a thickness of just 11 millimeters certainly looks nice. Now in Rose Gold. The Kaby Lake update adds little to an already excellent XPS 13 experience. Users will only see marginal benefits in both performance and battery life when compared to the outgoing Skylake XPS 13.

All-rounder with gaming qualities. With the Zenbook UX510UW, Asus has created a successful compromise of a good gaming laptop and all-rounder for everyday use. The slim laptop pleases with a good configuration and good rates. However, the laptop has its shortcomings.

A souped-up GT72. We checked out the GT73VR last month in its 1080p and GTX 1070 configuration and were blown away by its performance and workmanship. The pricier 4K UHD and 1080 SKU is even better, but it makes some sacrifices regarding contrast and colors.

Shaky candidate. The basically good and very long-running premium-range convertible stumbles - of all things - over its redesigned hinges. The manufacturer will have to rework this feature since a shaky display prevents using it in the Laptop Mode. That is all that has to be criticized since the new ZenBook has a lot to offer.
