AMD will be supplying new Wraith Ripper coolers designed by Coolermaster that will allow the Threadripper 2990X to hit 4 GHz on all 32 cores on air. This was demonstrated during an AMD event recently held in Maranello, Italy. Getting all 32-cores to boost to 4 GHz on air is a commendable feat, which implies much higher boosts on single and fewer cores.

AMD, today, unveiled the B450 chipset aimed at mainstream Ryzen customers. The B450 offers good value for money while also offering some of the features of the more expensive X470 chipset. The B450 chipset is compatible with all Ryzen CPUs and even supports overclocking with low-end motherboards.

HWBOT leaked the core count, TDP and base clocks for the Threadripper 2970X and 2050X CPU models. AMD also mentions the existence of 2990WX and 2970WX models and these are rumored to feature watercoolers. There should also be a 12-core / 24-core 2920X CPU, but no specs have been revealed for this one as of yet.

The 32-core 64-thread AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990X gets a listing on CanadaComputers for CA$2,399 or around US$1,835. This is in line with the Cyberport listing last month that showed the price at €1,509. The listing also shows that the new Threadrippers will sport the same retail packaging as the previous generation.

The 8-core Intel Core i9-9900K has made its way to the 3DMark database and has scored an impressive 10,719 in the CPU only test and 9,862 when paired with the GeForce GTX 1080Ti. This score is comparatively higher than that of the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, which posted a CPU-only score of 9,428 and a combined score of 7,570 under overclock.

The Q2 2018 financial report presents revenues totaling US$1.75 billion, of which US$166 million represents net profits. Year over year comparison points out to a 64% increase, even though total revenues are down 3% compared to Q1 2018. Moreover, the crypto market decline took away only 4% from the GPU sales.

AMD's marketing appears to be in turbo mode, literally. The company has put up a series of ads in San Jose airport highlighting its Epyc series CPUs while trolling Intel Xeons and comparing them to relics. The ads are fun to see and remind us of the Intel-AMD CPU wars during the 90s and early 2000s.

Acer Slovakia seems to have published the details of the Nitro 50-100 gaming desktop tower that features the AMD Ryzen 5 2500X processor. The Ryzen 5 2500X and the Ryzen 3 2300X were not mentioned during the Ryzen 2 unveiling making this the first official appearance of the CPU.

Although most details are still unknown, we heard that the AMD Picasso APU is a 12 nm Zen+ chip that might launch as an individual family of products instead of a mere Raven Ridge refresh. Unfortunately, AMD's current roadmap mentioned a 2019 release date, so it will probably take at least a few good months until more official details show up.

DIY gamers should be thrilled for the latest GPU price drops, however, this also means that the overstocks may further delay the launch of the next gen models. Since the crypto market saw the sharp depreciation earlier this spring, analysts pointed out that profits for both AMD and Nvidia could significantly shrink, but a crypto market rebound may restore most of the lost profits later this year.

AMD is trying to break Intels dominance in the mobile PC market. For that, it needs the PC manufacturers to put out good laptops with Ryzen. The affordable ThinkPad models E485 and E585 with Ryzen could potentially attract a large number of customers – and they are now available in the US and elsewhere.

According to a detailed analysis of AMD's upcoming GPUs, the new 7 nm Vega 20 might hit the 20 TFLOP barrier. Unfortunately, based on the known specifications of the hardware architecture used, achieving this level of performance would also lead to a high power consumption figure of 400 W.

The Ryzen 5 2500X managed to get similar scores to Intel's gen 7 i7-7700 CPU, making it an excellent solution for budget desktops. It is the only quad-core/8-thread CPU in the Ryzen 2000 family and it should be a best buy at only US$20 over the Ryzen 3 2300X ~US$140 price. Additionally, it can easily be overclocked to 4.3 GHz on air, probably eevn higher on watercooled solutions.

The unannounced Ryzen 3 2300X is running at 3.5 GHz by default and can go up to 4 GHz via boost frequencies. On default air cooling it may be pushed to 4.3 GHz without any problems, but liquid coolers may be able to help push it even further. The processor managed to score 690 points in Cinebench R15, placing it right between Intel's i3-8100 and i3-8350K.

While the 10 nm process continues to be delayed, Intel prepares more new CPUs that are still produced in an optimized 14 nm process. This means that Intel will continue to increase the number of CPU cores increase the performance. Next year, octa core CPUs are expected to arrive in laptops for the first time.

The Polaris 30 might come as a surprise, but AMD also neglected to mention the Polaris 20 GPUs in last year's roadmaps, so this looks to be business as usual for the red team. With a rumored 15% performance increase, the Polaris 30 GPUs will be comparable to the RX Vega 56 GPUs. AMD is also said to be preparing budget 7 nm GDDR6 GPUs for early 2019 and high-end HBM2 variants for late 2019.

AMD's upcoming HEDT processor, the 32C/64T Ryzen Threadripper 2990X has been spotted in the 3DMark database. While the entry does not show any performance score, it does show lower boost clocks owning to probably a non-XFR2 motherboard. Also, the pricing of the CPU was inadvertently leaked by a European online retailer. At just over Euro 1500, the Ryzen Threadripper 2990X could give Intel's 28-core chip a run for its money.

ASRock's foray into the GPU market started with the Radeon RX 570 and RX 580-based GPUs when they became available in the Asian market a few months ago. Now, ASRock is making these GPUs available for the European market starting July 1. While the Radeon RX 570 and 580 are starting to age, they are a perfect bet for ASRock to test the waters and offer great bang for the buck.

The Huawei MateBook D was refreshed a few weeks ago at Computex to include a Ryzen 5 2500U and a Vega 8. The 14-inch laptop is now available in the US and offers excellent value for money as is usual with devices in the series.

Microsoft is working closely with Razer to bring official support for keyboard and mouse input for the Xbox One. Long promised, but never delivered, the new partnership will give hardcore gamers the additional customization options that PC gamers enjoy from an input and control perspective.

Enthusiasts who want the fastest possible storage speeds already know to buy motherboards that use flagship chipsets (e.g. Intel's Z370 and AMD's X470). However, a series of benchmarks from TechSpot confirm that dual slot X470 boards can restrict performance if one of the slots is connected to the chipset with PCIe 2.0.

The guys over at HKEPC revealed that the Threadripper 2990X 32-core CPU is running at 3.4 GHz by default and can go up to 4.0 GHz in boost mode. It also comes with 40 MB L2+L3 cache memory and a TDP of only 250 W. According to Cinebench R15, the AMD chip is a bit faster than Intel's 28-core processor at stock frequencies.

AMD has discretely revealed the Radeon PRO V340 — a dual Vega 10 multi-GPU card with 32 GB HBM2 memory. The Radeon PRO V340 is being targeted for virtualization applications with support for up to 32 concurrent users and hardware encode capabilities for H.264 and H.265 video while providing a built-in security processor for isolating the virtualized environment from the cloud provider.

AMD will be providing Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition driver updates for its 'Raven Ridge' APUs in a quarterly cadence as opposed to more frequent updates for its Radeon GPUs. This was clarified by an AMD rep to a user's query on the OverclockersUK forum. The drivers, however, will be delivered as WHQL certified releases.

References to few upcoming AMD parts have been spotted in the Ashes of the Singularity DirectX 12 benchmark database. These include new 35W quad core chips such as the AMD Ryzen 7 2800H and Ryzen 5 2600H signalling AMD's arrival in the gaming laptop market. Some references to Vega 20 and Vega 12 GPUs were also spotted in the same database.

The Intel Hades Canyon NUC is finally getting a direct competitor in the form of the Chuwi HiGame. The manufacturer has gathered enough backers over the last few months to finally commit to an August launch window. Backers will be able to buy the Core i5-8305G SKU for $900 USD or a full $400 off the final retail price.

Expected to cost around US$160, the AMD Ryzen 5 2500X is almost as fast as the Intel Core i7-7700, while the cheaper (around US$130) Ryzen 3 2300X delivers about the same performance as the Intel Core i5-7600K. Both chips are manufactured using a 12 nm process and have a maximum clock speed of 4 GHz.

AMD unveiled the RX Vega 56 Nano during a Computex 2018 special press event, but instead a reference edition — as it usually happens — they unveiled a variant made by PowerColor. This video card features 8 GB HBM2 memory, 3584 stream processors, and the same clock speeds as the reference edition: 1156 MHz (base) and 1471 MHz (maximum).

AMD's answer to Intel's 28-core HEDT CPU was showcased today at Computex in the form of the 32-core/64-thread Gen 2 Threadripper. These top-of-the-line HEDT chips from AMD will use all 4 interconnected dies, unlike the first gen Threadrippers that used only 2 of 4. As a bonus, AMD gave a sneak peek to its 7 nm EPYC CPUs based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture.

The AMD line of the Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop gets an upgrade to Ryzen Pinnacle Ridge processors. This is a VR ready PC when combined with the AMD RX 580 and up to 32 GB of RAM. Dell reuses the existing Inspiron Gaming Desktop case with blue LED lighting.

Gigabyte has added a new eGPU enclosure to its lineup. The new Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming Box is targeted at Apple MacBook users, although it will work equally well with Windows ultrabooks as well.

AMD’s press conference earlier today contained a number of interesting new AMD-powered devices. One that stood out was the refreshed Huawei MateBook D with Ryzen APU and Vega graphics.

AMD demonstrated the world's first 7nm GPU architecture at Computex 2018. The Radeon Instinct series of accelerators are made for High Performance Compute (HPC) applications and feature 32 GB HBM2 memory on a 4096-bit bus. The 7nm Vega GPUs are currently being sampled with targeted availability in 2H 2018.

Red and Green in one consumer laptop without any tricks or eGPU docks. The Asus X570ZD laptop will be the first to incorporate a Ryzen 7 2700U APU with integrated Vega 10 graphics and a dedicated GeForce GTX 1050 GPU for more demanding tasks like gaming. AMD is promising the graphics switching technology to be seamless not unlike the current implementation of Nvidia Optimus on Intel-powered laptops. Prices, SKUs, and availability are all still under wraps for now.

USB Type-C Gen. 2 is still rather uncommon on notebooks. The single-chip controller solution from Cypress should make it less expensive for both Intel and AMD to integrate multiple USB Type-C Gen. 2 ports onto laptops while allowing for 100 W power delivery and better fail-safe mechanisms.

These two unconfirmed quad-core APUs could potentially be part of AMD's high-performance Ryzen series for gaming laptops. If true, laptop gamers may finally have a proper alternative to the ubiquitous i7-6700HQ, i5-7300HQ, i7-7700HQ, and i7-8750H CPUs that power essentially all the latest gaming notebooks in the market today. With Computex right around the corner, we're crossing our fingers for a proper announcement.

The mainstream 14-inch SKU will serve as the AMD alternative to the existing Intel MagicBook with Core i5-8250U CPUs and GeForce MX150 graphics. Chinese retailers are already detailing the "Sharp Dragon" Ryzen configuration albeit without an official price for now. Unfortunately, don't expect the MagicBook to launch globally anytime soon. The Vega 8 should offer a similar graphics experience as the GeForce 940MX.

Although Computex 2018 doesn't kick off in Taipei until June 5, Zotac is already out of the blocks showcasing its latest range of Mini PCs. The lineup includes the ZBOX CI660 nano, which is the first Mini PC to be powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU.

The pre-order goal for the Atari VCS console on crowdfunding website Indiegogo has already been eclipsed on the first day of the sale. The original flexible goal for the device was US$100,000, but the total amount had already reached US$1.76 million at the time of writing. Full specifications for the box have also been listed on its Indiegogo page.

Two new CPUs belonging to AMD 'Raven Ridge' Ryzen family were recently spotted online and on the Asus Crosshair VII Hero motherboard CPU list. Named the Athlon 200GE and the Athlon Pro 200GE, these are dual core CPUs with a base frequency of 3.2 GHz and a TDP rated at 35W.

Chromebooks could soon get a substantial performance boost, as the Chrome OS developers are planning to support Intel's Kaby Lake-G CPUs that come with the dedicated AMD Radeon RX Vega M GPU. The first Chromebook that would include such specs is codenamed "Kidd" and it was discovered mentioned in the Chromium code commit repository.
