Leak suggests Asus has laptops coming with Zen+ Ryzen Picasso APUs combined with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060 Turing GPUs
Well-known leaker Tum Apisak has shared some very interesting information about what could be a meeting of Picasso and Turing technology. It seems Asus is working on three devices with the model numbers FX505DU, GU502DU, and GU502DV, and these computers will apparently feature processors from AMD’s Picasso range and discrete GPUs from Nvidia’s Turing range. We recently reported on how OEMs should consider producing Zen+/Turing laptops, and it could be that Asus has taken up our suggestion.
The specific processors mentioned in the tipster’s tweeted image are the AMD Ryzen 5 3550H and the Ryzen 7 3750H, which are both from the Zen+ Picasso APU range that was launched earlier this year. Asus has already utilized the new AMD chips in its products; for example, the Ryzen 5 3550H is found in the Asus TUF FX505DY, but this laptop featured the midrange Radeon RX 560X graphics solution from 2017. Now it seems these new AMD APUs are going to get paired with the Turing-based Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU (beware: Max-Q is also mentioned; see image below).
If the thought of a Ryzen/Nvidia, Picasso/Turing combination isn’t exciting enough for you, then how about the little note that is added to Tum Apisak’s tweeted revelation that the GU502DV laptop from Asus will actually come with the GeForce RTX 2060? That’s the full RTX technology in combination with AMD’s new Zen+ mobile APU. If this leak ends up being genuine, it could really shake up the laptop market, and it will be fascinating to see the pricing and performance of these rumored Asus Picasso/Turing laptops.
