Dell Inspiron 15 5515 proves to be a solid office notebook but leaves the potential of the AMD Ryzen 7 untapped

Dell's Inspiron 15 5515 is a simple office notebook that fulfills its intended purpose, but also leaves quite a bit to be desired. It scores with good battery runtimes under testing, but does not fully utilize the potential of the AMD Ryzen 7 CPU.

That awkward moment when the Core i5-1240P is outperforming most Core i7-1260P laptops currently available (Image source: Intel)

That awkward moment when the Core i5-1240P is outperforming most Core i7-1260P laptops currently available

Numbers don't lie. We're disappointed that most laptop makers thus far haven't been implementing the Core i7-1260P to its full potential. The situation is bad enough that even the Core i5-1240P is running consistently faster in multi-threaded workloads than many Core i7-1260P laptops at the moment.

Asus ExpertBook B3 Detachable: Windows 11 brings significant progress to the ARM platform

Asus ExpertBook B3 Detachable (B3000): Windows 11 brings significant progress to the ARM platform

Windows on ARM has been around for years. But it hasn't managed to break through into the mainstream yet due to the lack of fast processors and poor software compatibility. Whilst the CPU issue still lingers, the software situation has been greatly improved with Windows 11, as the Asus ExpertBook B3 Detachable shows.

The XMG Pro 17 has a lot of performance in store.

Schenker XMG Pro 17 E22: Graphics performance above all

Big and black - this gaming laptop can only really make an impression when you open it. And this is only marginally due to the RGB keyboard. Instead, it's mainly the hardware that can show what this laptop is capable of.

Our review of the Schenker XMG Pro 15: The RTX 3080 Ti gamer has a lot of good features

Our review of the XMG Pro 15 with an i7-12700 H and a RTX 3080 Ti is now complete. Schenker advertises the XMG Pro 15 as an all-round laptop for gamers and workstation users with highlights such as a QHD display with great color space coverage, for example. However, some decent features are accompanied by small "but". Perhaps too many.

Dell XPS 13 Plus

Dell's new XPS 13 Plus could be a really good laptop, but there are some questionable design decisions

The new Dell XPS 13 Plus is equipped with a fast CPU, but our review revealed some problems and questionable design decisions. This means the laptop is not as good as it could be and Dell might be losing touch with its competitors.

MateBook D 16 2022

The new Huawei MateBook D 16 is not a price-performance champion

Until now, the MateBook D 16 from Huawei has been a 16-inch multimedia laptop with a good price-performance ratio. However, this isn't the case anymore with the new 2022 model, since the change to an Intel-i7 processor increases the price significantly and is also accompanied by some additional problems.

With the Moto G52, Motorla has created a great and well-rounded mid-range smartphone.

Verdict Motorola Moto G52 - This signature Moto feature is missing from the mid-range phone

In our review, the Moto G52 presents itself as a good mid-range smartphone without 5G aspirations. However, the affordable Moto phone lacks a certain feature that Motorola phones are known for.

Asus Vivobook Pro 14 laptop reviewed

Asus Vivobook Pro 14 laptop reviewed: Almost a hidden gem

The Asus VivoBook Pro 14 costs less than 1,000 Euros (~$1,004) while still offering a lot. A Pantone Validated OLED panel is just the cherry on top. A Ryzen 5 and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 guarantee high performance. While the case made of plastic and aluminum looks high-quality and sturdy, the connections available are a bit disappointing.

Huawei MateBook 16s

The new Huawei MateBook 16s with Intel CPU reveals some shortcomings compared to the previous AMD version and is just too expensive

Huawei's new multimedia laptop MateBook 16s is equipped with an Intel processor, but the move away from AMD reveals some problems. The price is also much higher than before, and the new model is definitely not as good as the old MateBook 16 AMD in terms of the price performance ratio.

Schenker XMG Neo 15 with Oasis liquid cooling put to the test: Cool and quiet high-performance gaming at last?

Lenovo Tab M10 Plus Gen 3 review verdict: Multimedia is the main focus of the affordable tablet

The third-generation Tab M10 Plus has four speakers and a high-resolution 2K panel. Furthermore, the 10.6-inch display supports stylus input, which is hard to find in this price range. Nevertheless, the low price comes at the expense of various drawbacks.

Apple MacBook Pro 13 M2

The new Apple M2 requires an active cooling solution and is even slightly throttled in the MacBook Pro 13

The first MacBook with Apple's new M2 SoC is the familiar MacBook Pro 13. It uses a cooling solution with a fan, but it still cannot handle the full performance of the Apple M2 for more than a couple of seconds. This worries us a bit when we think about the upcoming MacBook Air M2 redesign, which once again features a passive cooling solution.

Asus Zenbook Flip 15 Q539ZD OLED display is 40 percent dimmer than what the manufacturer is advertising

(June 27, 2022 update: Issue has been resolved.) There is a huge mismatch in display brightness between what Asus is claiming and what we are actually seeing on a retail unit. Hopefully we can find an official solution to "unlock" the maximum brightness potential of the otherwise impressive 120 Hz OLED touchscreen.

Testing the Schenker XMG Apex 15 Max: a gaming laptop with a desktop CPU

Schenker XMG Apex 15 Max: Gaming laptop with Ryzen 9 5900X

Schenker combines a socketed Ryzen 9-5900X CPU with a GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. This results in a powerful laptop that strikes a good figure in scenarios that demand a lot of performance, be it gaming, video processing, or rendering. However, potential buyers shouldn't require a good battery life, quiet operation, or lower power consumption.

Apple’s Mac Studio with the M1 max does not have any performance advantages over the MacBook Pro 16

Apple now offers its own M1 Max processors both in laptops as well as desktops, so some users might be interested in the differences. After we reviewed the new Mac Studio, we can say there are not that many and the MacBook Pro 16 is probably the better choice for most users.

The Core i7-1260P is about 20 percent faster than the Core i7-1255U, but it also consumes about 20 percent more power in the process. More significant gains can be observed in terms of graphics performance as the integrated Iris Xe benefits more from the higher power envelope and faster DDR5 RAM.

Acer Predator Triton 500 SE: Without the ability to upgrade it, a gaming laptop is only half as good

A powerful performance, a great display with 240 Hz, and relatively slim - what more could a gamer's heart wish for? But to offer all that, Acer makes one large compromise with the Predator Triton 500 SE, sacrificing the ability to upgrade it. That should really be a no-go for a gaming laptop.

AMD Ryzen 7 6800U and Radeon 680M bring decent performance gains provided there's enough TDP headroom. (Image via AMD/Asus with edits)

First AMD Ryzen 7 6800U benchmarks: Closer to Core i7-1260P in multi-core, Radeon 680M impresses in synthetics but lags in gaming

We have with us the first benchmarks of AMD's latest Ryzen 6800U APU from an Asus ZenBook S 13 OLED laptop. We see that the Ryzen 6800U offers decent improvements in multi-core over a Ryzen 7 5800U but loses out to the Core i7-1260P in single-core. The biggest advantage, however, is with the Radeon 680M iGPU that can ably compete with the likes of a GTX 1650 Max-Q in some tests, though it might require some upscaling impetus in gaming.
