HP ZBook X G1i 16 is a rebranded ZBook Power 16 with newer Arrow Lake and Nvidia Blackwell options

HP is now shipping its latest ZBook X G1i 16 mobile workstation to replace last year's ZBook Power 16. Much like the OmniBook X G1a series or EliteBook X G1a series, the ZBook X G1i 16 is the start of a new naming convention for the Power series in an attempt to make it easier for shoppers to identify the differences between models.

Despite the new name, however, the 2025 ZBook X G1i 16 doesn't bring a lot of new innovations over the 2024 ZBook Power 16 for better or worse. Internally, the Meteor Lake CPU and Ada Lovelace GPU on the older model have been upgraded to Arrow Lake and Blackwell, respectively, while battery life has been extended due to the efficiency gains. Otherwise, the ZBook X G1i 16 and ZBook Power 16 share the same chassis design and physical features for essentially the same user experience.

The minor refresh this year is not unexpected given that the ZBook Power 16 G11 design is only one year old and that manufacturers prefer to utilize the same design for at least a few years before introducing a full-on refresh. Users who don't need the additional horsepower from the ZBook X G1i 16 can therefore save on costs by opting for the older ZBook Power 16 G11 without worrying about lost features or compatibility issues.
