Minisforum releases MS-02 Ultra globally with 25 Gbps Ethernet and up to 192 GB RAM
Minisforum has now released the MS-02 Ultra, which is available to pre-order in multiple configurations. Advertised as a mini workstation, the MS-02 Ultra rivals the company's recent MS-S1 Max and other AMD Strix Halo mini-PCs like the GMKtec EVO-X2 (curr. $2,199 on Amazon) using Intel's Alder Lake HX platform.
According to Minisforum, high-end Core Ultra 9 285HX variants should score over 37,000 points in Cinebench R23 for a circa 3.5% performance advantage over the Ryzen AI Max+ 395. Moreover, the MS-02 Ultra features 25 Gbps networking, a 350 W built-in PSU and a PCIe x16 connector with enough space for dual slot graphics cards. Furthermore, Minisforum has included four M.2 slots, USB v2 ports and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
Currently, the MS-02 Ultra starts at $949 as a barebones unit with a Core Ultra 9 275HX processor before applying a $50 discount at checkout using the code MS0250. However, a cheaper Core Ultra 5 235HX variant will eventually be available for $719. Meanwhile, the Core Ultra 9 285HX option begins at $1,119 and rises to $2,899 with 192 GB of ECC RAM and a 2 TB SSD. Please note that only Core Ultra 9 285HX variants contain dual 25 Gbps Ethernet ports.
Also, other features like ECC RAM support are exclusive to Ultra 9 285HX versions. Please see the image below for more differences.
