What are the most important aspects of a gaming laptop? For most users, the answer will probably be gaming performance as well as image quality. These two items are also the main focus of the Lenovo Legion 5 15, because the gaming performance with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop is comparable to the more expensive Legion Pro 5 16 (also equipped with the 5070) and it is simply one of the fastest 5070 gamers out there. The graphics card only features 8 GB VRAM, which can lead to some restrictions especially in complex titles and the QHD resolution. However, this is the situation right now in this price range, because laptops with the RTX 5070 Ti are much more expensive, especially in combination with such a good OLED screen.
This brings us to the excellent OLED screen. We have already praised Lenovo a couple of times this year for good panels, and the Legion 5 15 is no exception. It offers brilliant colors, rich blacks, blazing-fast response times and a high frequency of 165 Hz. It also convinces with high brightness values both in SDR (500 nits) as well as HDR (~1,100 nits), so HDR games in particular (like Horizon Forbidden West) simply look stunning. Lenovo did a good job with the typical PWM flickering, because the frequency is high at more than 1 kHz and the amplitude is small, so there should not be any major issues here. But that's not all, Lenovo also ships the Legion with very accurate color profiles for sRGB as well as P3, so it is also a great choice for picture/video editing.
There are obviously some weaker aspects, but we don't think they affect the very good overall impression too much. The chassis does not offer comprehensive lighting elements, but this is not necessarily a drawback. The fans are also quite loud when you play games, but this is the case for the competitors as well, and the other power profiles offer a quieter gaming experience without sacrificing too much performance. Lenovo offers quite a few configurations for the Legion 5 15. Our Intel SKU with the Core i7-13650HX, for example, does not support USB 4.0 and the battery runtime is also noticeably shorter compared to the AMD SKU we tested earlier this year with the RTX 5060.
All in all, however, there is not much to criticize, and the Legion 5 15 is simply a good gaming laptop where games look stunning. Please see our comprehensive review for more details.
