Lenovo's new Legion 5 is a mainstream gamer with a 15-inch screen, which wants to offer plenty of performance for a good price. The manufacturer does not offer gimmicks like extensive chassis illumination, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. The design is actually quite inconspicuous with black surfaces, so the Legion can also be used in other environments without drawing too much attention.
In terms of the processor, you can choose how much money you want to spend. The slightly older Zen 4 processor still offers plenty of gaming performance, but you can also pay more to get a Zen 5 or Intel processor. The maintenance options are very good, because you can easily expand the memory as well as SSD capacity.
The new GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop performs well and can even handle many games in the QHD resolution. Only Raytracing will often require resolution drops or the use of DLSS4 upscaling. The latter is a good method to improve FPS numbers, especially in slower paced games. Talking about the display, you do not really have to make any sacrifices. The image quality of the OLED panel (165 Hz) is amazing and games look superb, especially in HDR. However, this brings us to one topic where you have to make a compromise. Contrary to the more expensive Legion Pro 5 16, there is no Advanced Optimus and the panel does not support G-Sync, either. However, whether these features are worth around 400 Euros is questionable. Sure, we would have liked to see these features on the Legion 5 15 as well, but the lower price has to be realized somehow.
All in all, the Legion 5 15 does not have many drawbacks, and the overall package is very convincing, especially considering the price. Please see our comprehensive review of the Legion 5 15 for more information.
