Lenovo Legion 5i has very few shortcomings

As a mainstream gaming laptop, the Lenovo Legion 5i is one of the, if not the, best gaming machines currently on the market. A major reason for this is that the laptop absolutely nails the most important aspects of a gaming notebook, namely chassis, performance, display, and emissions.

Clad in a durable and muted aluminum/plastic chassis, the Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 10 performed like a champ in our review. The laptop proved to be plenty capable of high-refresh FHD gaming. Thanks to the more powerful RTX 5070 laptop and the Core Ultra 7 255HX inside the model on sale, the Legion 5i under discussion should prove to be a fast QHD contender.

Moreover, as we found in our testing, the Legion 5i is adequately quiet and doesn’t overheat. Both of these factors make the machine a pretty good option for day-to-day use as well. This is especially true when we consider that our AMD-based variant was able to last more than 9 hours in our WLAN test.

Tying it all together is a great OLED display with a fast 165 Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, 1,000 nits of HDR brightness, and accurate colors out of the box. Combined with an infinite contrast ratio, the Legion 5i has a display that is great for both multimedia use and editing.

The Lenovo Legion 5i is not perfect, however. The laptop doesn’t have an SD card slot, for instance (you can get an external one here). There is also no Advanced Optimus. So, you will have to manually enable the iGPU if you want to save power by disabling the RTX 5070.
