Powerful system sporting AMD's Radeon RX 5700 XT racks up colossal OpenCL score on Geekbench

A massive OpenCL score has been recorded in a Geekbench database entry based on an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card. The system used also sported a ROG Rampage VI Apex motherboard from Asus, Intel’s Core i9-7960X CPU, and 32 GB of RAM. The Geekbench record states a score of 324,481 points for this graphics test.

The device apparently caught fire while charging just over a day after it was purchased. An accompanying video shows the bulging battery still smoking, having destroyed the device, in something reminiscent of the Note 7 debacle.

While raw performance is comparable to a Core i5-8300H as designed, the Ryzen 7 3750H offers almost no tangible benefits over the Ryzen 5 3550H. The performance differences are so incredibly minor between the two SKUs that AMD could have just launched with one SKU only to make life simpler.

A device called the Xiaomi Mi CC 9e has appeared on the Geekbench 4 website. Its results in these tests depict it as a 6GB phone powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC. The Mi CC 9e also apparently runs Android Pie, but that is all that can be gleaned from this leak.
