GTA VI: Project Americas codename, next-gen exclusive and a return to Vice City with a Narcos twist?
A huge list of details about GTA VI, the long-awaited sequel to GTA V, have been posted on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours to much fanfare. The thread has received 376 comments in 2 days at the time of writing, with the original post reading like a pick 'n mix of wants for the next GTA. The poster alleges that they received this information from:
two friends who are very reliable and have worked for places such as Kotaku and PC Gamer... I also have a very dear friend who works for Rockstar, he won’t confirm the details, but he won’t deny them either.
Sounds legit, right? Apparently, Rockstar has codenamed GTA VI PROJECT AMERICAS, with the game being set across Vice City, Liberty City and a third city in Cuba, or Central/South America. Moreover, Rockstar Worldwide Production has been handling development since 2012, with the game now being the primary focus for the company alongside Bully 2, a game that has been the subject of numerous debunked leaks over the years.
The post goes on to claim that the story is set in the 1970s around drug running, with Narcos being a likely inspiration. The game will progress through the 1980s to present day too. Finally, GTA VI will also be a next-generation exclusive but currently has no ETA.
