Nubia releases gaming-centric accessories for the Red Magic 3
The Red Magic 3 was released earlier in 2019 as the first phone with a fan for active cooling. This device also has RGB lighting and a 90-hertz refresh rate. It is, therefore, mainly aimed at users who want a particularly gamer-ish experience out of the Snapdragon 855 processor. This brand is owned by Nubia, an OEM that has just put some new accessories out under the same name.
These new add-ons are compatible with the Red Magic 3 only. They follow the gaming-phone trend of adding either off-screen controls or additional inputs to the phone. To that end, the Pro Handle is a gamepad-type controller that adds the options of using buttons in several well-known mobile titles. It has a joystick, directional buttons and shoulder buttons.
This accessory is joined by the Magic Adapter, which clips onto the middle of a Red Magic 3 using gold connector pins. It does this in order to add 3 extra ports to the phone: a headphone jack, a second USB type C port and a (100Mb) Ethernet port.
As with other similar accessories sold by other gaming-phone companies, they don't come that cheap (especially relative to the Red Magic 3's competitive price): the Pro Handle has started at US$39.90. For that, however, the buyer also gets a compatible case (which is also sold separately at $14.90) thrown in.
Furthermore, the controller is sold as a left-handed product only; for a more Joy-Con-like experience, the user may need to buy 2 (although 1 would be upside-down). The Magic Adapter, on the other hand, comes in at $46.90. Either new accessory is now available through Red Magic's international online store.
