Asus gaming-focused ROG Phone 2 could arrive as soon as July
Asus is prepping a sequel to its original ROG Phone, the first gaming-focused smartphone from the company. Of all the gaming phones to have hit the market, including the Razer Phone, the Asus ROG Phone is by far the most gaming optimized with a range of innovations and accessories to help mobile phone gamers get the optimal mobile gaming experience on the go. This included an attachable cooling fan, touch sensitive Air Triggers placed in the top left and right hand corners of the device and even a dual-screen accessory.
This time around, Asus is said to be partnering with Tencent on getting even more out of the device for its games, which includes the mobile version of PUBG. This should help to ensure that there are some AAA mobile titles optimized to take advantage of its Air Triggers and any other accessories that might accompany the new generation model. As with the original, we expect that the upgraded Snapdragon 855 expected for the ROG 2 will also include enhanced internal thermal systems to help dissipate heat.
Little else is known about the ROG Phone 2 at this stage. The only other detail to spill is that it will launch in July, which is roughly 12 months after the original model launched. It is expected to eventually make its way to the US market. Just don't expect it to be cheap. All of that innovation and top-of-the-line specs come at a price. Don't expect any change from US$900.
