LTE 8.0. You don't like small screens but want the phone functions of a smartphone? Then Huawei's MediaPad T1 8.0 LTE might be your device: make calls and browse on the Internet on an 8-inch tablet.

Luxurious Digital Frame. It is easy to confuse the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8 with a digital picture frame. However, thanks to its kickstand and Windows 8.1, the device has a lot more to offer.

Talking icon. Acer's Iconia Talk S is a 7-inch tablet/phablet that is capable of making phone calls. Its dual-SIM function and LTE module ensure a good connection on-the-go. An energy-efficient quad-core Snapdragon SoC, a bright HD-IPS display, and Android 4.4 complete the package. Acer enters the battle for buyers at a recommended retail price of 229 Euros (~$245).

Mobile browsing. The technical specifications of the Prestigio Multipad Visconte 3 do not really differ from any other inexpensive Windows tablet, but the Prestige tries to stand out from the competition with one highlight: An integrated 3G modem.

We are different. With the recent NSA surveillance affair, many users are concerned about their data on smartphones and tablets. One possible solution: Operating systems from independent developers. A bit of business. Samsung wants to participate more strongly in the business field with its Galaxy Tab Active. The tablet is not only dust and waterproof, but it also protected against drops. It might just be an interesting alternative for field workers with LTE and stylus inputting.

A solid device. Like many other manufacturers, Asus now has a new 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet on the market. In terms of hardware, the VivoTab 8 is mostly on par with the competing models. In terms of price, however, currently the new Asus device is at the high end of the spectrum.

Standing ovation. The Acer Aspire Switch 12 design has surprised us in its flexibility and ability to be a very productive hybrid PC with a huge range of usage scenarios and processing capability.

Dell's Venue 8 7000 Android tablet combines a distinctive ultra-thin aluminum chassis, a 8.4-inch high-resolution OLED edge-to-edge display and a current generation Intel Atom processor into one sharp-looking package.
