Upcoming Apple iPad Mini 4 may be as thin as 6.1 mm
First sightings of the iPad Mini 4 came last month via a Japanese blog citing "reliable sources". Now, a new rendering is allegedly revealing additional details on the upcoming Apple tablet including its thinner chassis and similarities to the iPad Air 2.
The new source suggests that the iPad Mini 4 will be just 6.1 mm thick and thus significantly thinner than the 7.5 mm iPad Mini 3. This would also make the tablet thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 by half a millimeter, though still thicker than the Dell Venue 8 7000 by just one-tenth of a millimeter. Meanwhile, it appears unlikely that Apple will reuse the same A7 SoC found on the iPad Mini 3 and will turn to a newer processor for the next generation model.
Exactly when the new iPad will be announced is not yet known, but any potential announcements would likely happen this September during the next iPhone press conference. Aside from the iPad Mini 4, Apple may also announce the iPad Air 3 or iPad Pro with a 12-inch or larger display.
