The most powerful XPS 13 yet. The XPS 13 has been a very good subnotebook for years and Dell now offers two versions, which are not only different in terms of CPU selection. How does the new XPS 13 Plus with the 4K panel, frameless touchpad and completely new keyboard including touch bar perform in our review?

Excellent 4K display with AdobeRGB. The current Dell XPS 17 9720 is receiving the new Intel Alder Lake processors with the continued ability to combine them with RTX GPUs from Nvidia. However, compared to the predecessor, the graphics performance was reduced and the cooling is slightly weak overall. It's about time for an extensive update.

The Intel 12th gen update. Now in its third year, the XPS 15 9520 is another internal update to the already familiar 2020 XPS 15 9500 and 2021 XPS 15 9510. But is the fancy new Alder Lake-H CPU really enough to make a difference?

Bad price-performance ratio. The Dell XPS 15 continues to be one of the few high-end multimedia laptops that is optionally also offered without a dedicated graphics card. So while those who are looking only for a fast processor should really be at the right place here, Dell also limits the CPU performance unnecessarily.

A refined Precision 5550. Last year's Precision 5550 was a huge leap over the Precision 5540 in terms of performance and design. This year's Precision 5560 is a more minor step up but not without a few surprises along the way.

Should you even bother? A simple processor swap has done wonders for the XPS 13 convertible. Raw CPU gains are not as impressive, but the graphics are up significantly without impacting battery life or power consumption.

New 70 W GeForce RTX 3060. The first generation XPS 17 9700 was one of the best-looking 17-inch laptops with Core-H and GeForce RTX graphics, but it had some under-the-hood peculiarities that needed to be ironed out. The new XPS 17 9710 addresses the underlying issues while boosting performance by quite the margin.

3.5K OLED vs 4K IPS. Customers asked and Dell has delivered: the XPS 13 9310 is now available with OLED to make it one of the first 13.4-inch 16:10 laptops to come with such an option. However, users should be careful what they wish for because OLED has its own unique quirks as well.

Premium goes low budget. Equipped with a comparable configuration, the 9305 is 300 Euros (~$362) cheaper than the popular 9310. In return, it has a 16:9 screen that displays colors very well and an additional USB-C port. Is the XPS 9305 the low-budget entry into the XPS world?

Is pricier better? Whereas older XPS 13 models had just one Core i7 option, the latest XPS 13 9310 has two: the Core i7-1165G7 or Core i7-1185G7. Let's see how much of a performance benefit the higher-end Core i7 option can bring to the table.

Also a recommendation without Nvidia GPU? Dell is one of the few manufacturers that offer large multimedia laptops without dedicated graphics cards. If you are not interested in gaming, you can still get a high-end multimedia laptop for a lower price. However, even the base model XPS 17 9700 with the small Core i5 is anything but cheap.

Intel Evo(lution). 10th gen Intel Ice Lake introduced significant graphics upgrades over the aging UHD Graphics 620 and the 11th gen Tiger Lake series is yet another huge leap. CPU performance, however, hasn't changed by all that much.
