The Dell XPS Desktop 8960 can now be configured with Intel Raptor Lake processors, up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory, Nvidia Turing/Ampere/Ada Lovelace and AMD RDNA 2/RDNA 3 graphics cards, up to a 1,000 Watt power supply and liquid cooling.

Dell has added new hardware options to its pre-built, XPS-branded desktop. While the Dell XPS Desktop 8960 isn't marketed as a gaming machine, one should be able to play most AAA titles at respectable framerates/resolutions with the appropriate hardware. Higher-end configurations support liquid cooling, allowing users to extract more performance from their hardware.

The Dell XPS Desktop 8960 offers a wide range of Intel processors, including the Core i9-13900K, Core i7-13700K, their non-K variants, the Core i5-13600K and the Core i5-13400. It is mounted on a proprietary Z690 motherboard, with up to 64 GB of DDR5 4,800 MT/s memory and 8 TB (4 + 4) of solid-state storage. Unfortunately, Dell doesn't offer any SSD + HDD combos for those looking to save a few bucks. Thankfully, the 27.1 L case has two 3.5-inch bays, allowing users to add their own storage.

One can pick a wide range of graphics cards for their Dell XPS Desktop 8960, from the Turing-based GeForce GTX 1650 to the Ada Lovelace-based GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. Ampere SKUs max out at the RTX 3080 but include everything in between, including the Ti models. AMD options are far more limited and include the Radeon RX 6500XT, 6600XT, 6700XT, 6800XT, and the current-gen RX 7900 XTX. It is important to note the RDNA 3 model will only be available at a later date.

Dell's proprietary motherboard is quite lacking in I/O, but the Dell XPS Desktop 8960 tried to make up for it with additional front ports, including three USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A and USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, a 3.5 mm audio jack and an SD card slot. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Depending on the configuration, one can pick between a proprietary 460 Watt Bronze, 750 Watt Platinum and 1,000 Watt Platinum power supply. Dell even throws in a keyboard, mouse and external DVD drive with every purchase.

Currently, only one configuration of the Dell XPS Desktop 8960 is purchasable with a Core i7 CPU, 16 GB memory, 512 GB storage, a GeForce RTX 4080, a 750 Watt power supply and liquid cooling for US $2849.99/CA$3849.99. Other configurations will be orderable later in the year.
