Dell has introduced the XPS 13 9315, a cheaper alternative to the XPS 13 Plus (9320) that the company already sells. While the XPS 13 Plus features an invisible trackpad and touch-sensitive function keys, the XPS 13 9315 has conventional versions of both components. In effect, the XPS 13 9315 succeeds both the XPS 13 9310 and XPS 13 9305, with the XPS 13 9315 borrowing its design language from the XPS 13 9310.
In fact, it seems that Dell has re-used the chassis from the XPS 13 9310, which the company sells with up to the Core i7-1165G7, a 28 W processor. Likewise, Dell still allows people to configure the XPS 13 9305 with a Core i7-1165G7, which sells for US$949.99 on the company's website. By contrast, the XPS 13 9315 comes with either the Core i5-1230U or the Core i7-1250U, a pair of 15 W processors from Intel's Alder Lake family.
Additionally, Dell offers the XPS 13 9315 with 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB of soldered LPDDR5 RAM, all running at 5,200 MHz in dual-channel mode. Also, the XPS 13 9315 is configurable with 512 GB or 1 TB of NVMe storage, but only a single display option. According to Dell, the 13.4-inch display outputs at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and 500 nits but lacks touchscreen support. Presumably, the display relies on IPS technology too.
For reference, Dell has only equipped the XPS 13 9315 with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, despite including a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microSD card reader in the XPS 13 9310. In other words, the XPS 13 9315 has the same port selection as the XPS 13 Plus. The XPS 13 9315 is already orderable in the US, where it starts at US$999 in Sky and Umber colour options. In comparison, the flagship specification retails for US$1,559, which features the Core i7-1250U, 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
