A couple of photos of an AMD Navi chip and a Ryzen 3000 series processor have been published by a Japanese website. After months of rumors and leaks, the physical products are finally available to see. The Ryzen 9 3900X is easily distinguishable with its chiplet design. The rear sides of the processors show Navi’s smaller ball grid array.

AMD’s CEO, Lisa Su, has managed to allay concerns that development of 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper processors has been abandoned. An AMD Investor Presentation from March had the vaunted HEDT chips included in the 2019 AMD client lineup. However, May’s presentation removed the next-gen Threadripper from the roadmap.

The rumored 16-core Ryzen 9 CPU was tested behind-the-scenes at Computex by a group of overclockers, who managed to push the processor to 4.25 GHz on water cooling. New specifications for AMD’s Navi-based RX 3080 graphics card have apparently been leaked. It’s believed the RX 3080 will offer eight shader engines and 2,560 stream processors. It seems Nvidia is not too keen on AMD’s rumored naming scheme and has filed to trademark the numbers 3080, 4080, and 5080 with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Marketing material and the features and technical specifications sheet for the Dell Precision 7740 workstation have apparently been leaked on the Chinese website Chiphell. The new information seems to match the details in documents that were also leaked earlier this month. The Precision 7740 will offer users a choice between AMD Radeon Pro WX GPUs and Nvidia’s seemingly brand-new mobile Quadro RTX GPUs.

ARM's recent announcement to cut ties with Huawei may leave the Chinese dragon in a lurch. While Huawei manufactures its own custom processors, they are built on ARM's architecture. Should ARM revoke Huawei's ability to use this architecture, Huawei has few options outside of developing its own CPU architecture to continue its electronics business.

A 16-core Zen 2 AMD Ryzen 3000 processor has apparently been benchmarked on Cinebench R15 and offered up a score that will surprise or amaze many. It’s believed the chip in question has a base clock of 3.2 GHz with a boost available up to 4.3 GHz. The unnamed AMD product is supposed to have attained a score of 4,278 points.

Khronos Group, the consortium behind the development of the Vulkan API, has listed the Google Games Platform Gen 1 aka Stadia as being powered by a custom AMD datacenter GPU based on the GCN 1.5 architecture in its Vulkan Conformant Products page. Google Stadia's GPU is said to be a custom Vega 56 with 56 CUs and a memory bandwidth of 484 GBps. Gigabyte has released new AGESA microcode updates for its X470 and B450 offerings that seem to enable PCIe Gen4 support in the BIOS. The feature, originally thought to be available only on upcoming AMD X570 motherboards, can enable Gen4 speeds on the nearest PCIe slot connected to the Ryzen 3000 CPU. Other PCIe lanes going to the chipset and M.2 slots will continue to operate at PCIe Gen3 speeds.

An interesting entry in the SiSoftware SANDRA database has been spotted that has shown a presumably upcoming Dell server being tested with one of AMD’s forthcoming Epyc 2 “Rome” chips. It seems the engineering sample and Dell server get along with each other very well, as the qualification record states “excellent performance.”

An engineering sample of an upcoming AMD processor has been spotted on UserBenchmark. This particular chip has visited the benchmark before, back in January, but it seems it has received some improvements in the meantime. The sample is believed to be connected to AMD’s “Matisse” Ryzen 3000 series of Zen 2 desktop processors.

A flaw in Intel's modern CPU architectures can be used in a new attack. Dubbed "ZombieLoad," the vulnerability is similar to the Spectre and Meltdown bugs that haunted the PC market last year. ZombieLoad uses a similar flaw in Intel CPUs' speculative execution processes to access and leak data, including passwords, keys, and sensitive data.

Intel's Raja Koduri laid out the position of the company in key markets such as PC, CPU, GPU, FPGA, data center, interconnect, and memory compared to the competition. During the presentation, Raja felt that AMD has no meaningful software ecosystem without Intel and that the 'Red' team lacks a memory and interconnect strategy. He also dwelt upon Intel's OneAPI strategy to make it easy for developers to code for multiple Intel architectures.

The leaked specs come from reliable source Tum Apisak on Twitter, who managed to intercept a 16-core engineering sample that is usually offered by AMD to motherboard makers for design purposes. With 3.3 GHz default clocks and boost clocks reaching 4.5 GHz, the unnamed chip may turn up to be the Ryzen 9 3800X model leaked in late 2018 by AdoredTV.

Crytek explained about the process that went into making of ray tracing effects in the Neon Noir demo and said that most modern GPUs have enough computational power for implementing ray tracing (to various degrees). The demo showed an AMD Vega 56 being able to easily render ray tracing effects at 1080p 30 fps with the possibility of higher framerates with reduced reflection resolutions.

Tensions between the U.S. and China are higher than ever, as president Trump increased the Chinese tariffs from 10% to 25% without any warning. A list of AMD Navi GPUs was revealed by AdoredTV based on his analysis of existing Navi rumors and some insider information. The Navi lineup will be apparently led by the top-end Navi20 comprised of the RX 3090 XT and RX 3090. The mid-range Navi10 will see the RX 3080 XT, RX 3080, and the RX 3070 XT while the entry-level Navi12 will feature the RX 3070 and RX 3060 SKUs. Except for Navi20, the other two are expected to launch sometime during E3 2019.

AdoredTV reports that the Navi10-based Radeon RX 3080 XT could offer similar performance to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 at a sweet price of US$330. The RX 3080 XT is said to feature 56 CUs and will have a TDP of 190 W. AdoredTV also notes that AMD engineers are struggling to hit Vega20 clocks with early Navi samples and that they seem to suffer from power and efficiency issues.
