Sometimes it pays to be patient with new technology. The latest XPS 17 9710 is the faster and more refined version of the last generation XPS 17 9700 with none of the battery draining irregularities.

After testing over a dozen different laptops with the GeForce RTX 3060, users can expect up to a 19 percent performance decrease between the fastest and slowest models currently available. There's a catch, however, as real-world gaming performance on the 70 W GPU can be brought closer to average by opting for a newer CPU with higher or faster RAM.

Lenovo has constructed its ThinkPad X1 Extreme new. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 is supposed to take on the Dell XPS series. It changes to the 16:10 aspect ratio, but with a different screen size compared to the Dell competitors. Lenovo also upgrades the GPUs to up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q.

The 2021 models can also be configured with GeForce RTX 3050 Ti or RTX 3060 options of up to 70 W TGP. A fully configured XPS 17 9710 will set you back around $2600 USD.

OLED is often seen as superior to IPS and for good reason—its colors and especially black levels remain unmatched against even the best IPS options available. Nonetheless, it falls short in a few areas worth mentioning.

Dell's most popular consumer Ultrabook is a few hundred dollars off at the moment with the highest-end Core i7 CPU option. It doesn't come with 4K, but we're absolutely fine with that considering the already small 13.4-inch screen size.

The Dell XPS 15 9510 is now official and offers internal upgrades to Intel Tiger Lake-H CPUs and NVIDIA RTX 3050/3050 Ti Laptop GPU options. Dell hasn't changed many aspects of the design with the only notable changes being the availability of a 3.5K OLED display option and Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The XPS 13 has received an OLED upgrade, having previously been available with only IPS panels. Everything about the XPS 13 9310 remains identical though, including its choice of Intel Tiger Lake processors, LPDDR4x RAM and M.2 PCIe NVMe storage.

The new Dell XPS 13 9310 with Tiger Lake i5-1135G7 is currently priced at £999 (US$1,388) on the company’s UK site at the moment. This is an incredible price for the high-end laptop, and it also happens to be the same price tag as the even newer Dell XPS 13 9305 with the same Intel chip but worse display and smaller-capacity SSD.

The lowest price for the Core i7, 8 GB RAM, and 256 GB SSD SKU is $699 USD, but users can double the RAM and storage for about $200 more. If the faster graphics performance or 16:10 aspect ratio of the newer XPS 13 9300 models are unexciting, then the older XPS 13 7390 may be worthwhile.

The Dell XPS 13 9305 laptop is now available to purchase from country sites such as the US and UK after previously being listed for sale in China. The XPS 13 9305 is a cheaper variant of the XPS 13 9310 that is also slightly lighter and comes with a 16:9 aspect ratio and lower screen-to-body ratio. The budget Dell XPS 13 utilizes Intel Tiger Lake processors.

The latest Intel Evo laptops from Dell and Razer have a lot in common and yet one of them offers significantly faster performance than the other. The Razer Book 13 costs a lot more than the Dell, but its benefits are tangible.

Dell charges almost 2000 Euros for the base model of the XPS 17 9700. You still get the great chassis and a very good FHD panel, but also a slow quad-core processor from Intel with an outdated iGPU.

The Dell XPS 13 9310 is here, and its packs Intel's latest Tiger Lake-U series processors. Early performance comparisons show the Core i7-1165G7 to be a decent improvement from its Ice Lake predecessor while still falling short of AMD's Renoir mobile processors. If only Dell offered the XPS 13 with Ryzen 4000 series APUs.

Dell has refreshed the XPS 13 2-in-1 with Intel Tiger Lake SKUs with Xe graphics and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity. The new 2020 XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 is also Intel Evo-certified and offers pretty much the same chassis and thermal design as its predecessor including the inability to upgrade RAM, storage, and the Killer AX1650 Wi-Fi 6 card.

Dell has refreshed the clamshell XPS 13 to feature Intel Tiger Lake CPU options, Evo specifications, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity. The XPS 13 9310 offers both FHD+ and UHD+ options and also comes in a Developer Edition pre-loaded with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

The Precision 5750 is a unique 17-inch laptop that juggles between being an Ultrabook and a full-fledged mobile workstation. It doesn't particularly excel at one or the other, but it still appeals to a small segment of professionals who could benefit from its hybrid approach.

We retest the XPS 17 to confirm the fixes that Dell has in place. The laptop will now properly draw 130 W from its adapter instead of only 100 W to mitigate the battery draining issue on earlier production units.

The first details about the next Dell XPS 13 have leaked, but you may struggle to tell the device apart from the XPS 13 9300. Spotted in an Intel Tiger Lake promo video, the next XPS 13 will retain the design of Dell's current ultrabook while dialing up CPU and GPU performance.

Wobbly trackpads may have affected multiple early XPS 15 9500 units, but it has emerged that others will not stay closed when they are picked up. Picking up some XPS 15 9500 machines causes their display lid to pop open, almost as if no magnets are holding them in place. Dell is yet to acknowledge the issue publicly, but there are multiple examples of it spread across Dell Community and Reddit forums.

The Dell XPS 15 9500 is available to order in Frost White, at long last. Officially called "Frost White with White Palmrest", the option is only configurable in some markets like the US and Canada.

If it's important for your mobile workstation to be as portable and sexy as possible, then go ahead and get the Precision 5550. Otherwise, the older Precision 5540 will be cheaper and perform almost exactly the same.

If you own a GeForce-powered XPS 17 or Precision 5750, Dell wants you to contact customer support to work something out. The manufacturer has successfully reproduced the charging issue on a "limited quantity" of laptops and will be reaching out to existing owners as well.

It turns out that Dell XPS 17 9700 machines can draw up to 130 W from the wall, after all. Not all units can do so as our tests have confirmed, but these unaffected units apparently cannot always charge at their full capacity.

As nice as it may look, the XPS 17 is missing a few quality-of-life features that many less expensive laptops already integrate. We'd love to see these addressed on the inevitable successor.

The Dell XPS 15 9500 laptop has started appearing on certain country-specific sites with a new processor option in the configurator for the Intel Core i9-10885H processor. The high-end Comet Lake chip offers 8-core processing and can be joined by up to 64 GB RAM, a 2 TB NVMe SSD, Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX500-DBS, and the option for a UHD+ display.
The new i9 configuration has now appeared on Dell US.

Dell has given the XPS 15 9500 a fresh lick of paint. Only released in May, the XPS 15 9500 is now available in two colours in multiple regions. Called Frost with an Arctic White palm rest, the new colour option will be a US$50 surcharge for Core i7 models with 16 GB of RAM and above.

Dell is offering up to 24% off several XPS, and Inspiron refurbished laptops. The offer includes the XPS 13 9300, XPS 13 7390, XPS 13 7390 2-in-1 and four Inspiron 5000 series machines.

It's tough for us to recommend a Windows laptop with just 4 GB of RAM especially when it's not upgradeable. Even so, the option must still appeal to a lot of users since Dell insists on making 4 GB SKUs even for its best-selling laptop series.

Dell has acknowledged that some early XPS 15 9500 machines shipped with wobbly trackpads. Apparently not meeting the company's "stringent quality and experience standards", Dell is offering to correct affected units. New XPS 15 9500 shipments should not suffer from wobbly trackpads, either.

It has been reported that Dell is developing some Chromebooks to add to its extensive lineup, and there has been speculation that a Dell XPS Chromebook could be in the works, too. The same source states that at least three machines are being developed, with Intel’s 10nm Tiger Lake microarchitecture featuring in the Dell Chromebook mix.

Surprisingly, battery life on the Core i7 GeForce option is almost the same as on the Core i5 iGPU option. The $1000 surcharge brings significantly faster graphics performance at the cost of running both louder and warmer in the process.

The Kaby Lake G platform is unique in that it combines an 8th-gen Intel Core CPU with Radeon Vega M graphics. Attractive a proposition as this - and some of the PCs on which it is based - sounds, it quickly ran into support issues. Now, it seems it has a new one: it can't install newer drivers, which are normally supplied by AMD.

Core i9-10885H SKUs will start shipping next week for a whopping $2399 compared to just $1849 for the Core i7-10875H option. If you really want a Core i9 XPS 15 for some reason, now's your chance to get the latest one.

Dell has released the XPS 17 9700 and Precision 17 5750. The devices start at US$1,399.99 and US$2,399 respectively. However, you must spend US$1,899.99 if you want a dedicated GPU with the XPS 17 9700 and at least US$2,849.99 for an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q model.

How about an AMD-powered XPS 15? It's already one of the most popular and well-known Ultrabooks in the market, but it can be even better and faster with an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, Ryzen 9 4900HS, or the Ryzen 5 4600H. Fans would eat up an AMD-Nvidia powered XPS especially if it were priced just right.
