Initially planned for launch in 2016, Intel has delayed the launch of the 10nm based next-generation 'Cannon Lake' CPUs to 2019, which the company announced in their first-quarter earnings report of 2018. It is not the first time Intel has delayed 10nm process-based CPUs; furthermore, there is no mention of as to when in 2019 will Intel release 'Cannon Lake' chips.

Dell commissioned a study in collaboration with Researchscape to understand the PC gaming community. The study brings forth some new facts about gamers, their habits, and attitudes and breaks the typical stereotyping commonly associated with them.

Google has updated its Chrome OS to version 66, bringing with it numerous bug and security fixes. Chief among the security updates is a patch for Meltdown for Intel-based Chrome OS devices closing off the vulnerability across all Chrome OS devices.

When AMD announced their second generation Ryzen processors a few days ago the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X was positioned at the top, rather than something like a 2800 or 2800X to match the Ryzen 7 1800X. However, AMD’s Senior Vice President, Jim Anderson, has hinted that we might see a 2800X at a later date.

The AMD Ryzen 5 2400GE and Ryzen 3 2200GE are available with the same number of cores and threads as the 2400G and 2200G, but with a lower TDP of just 35 W. Other than the lowered frequencies and TDP, the new chips feature the same Vega 11 (2400GE) and Vega 8 (2200GE) iGPUs as their predecessors.

Famed overclocker 'der8auer' has managed to overclock the new AMD Ryzen 7 2700X to cross the 6 GHz on all cores. He managed to achieve this by first selecting the best CPUs for the task and then subjecting them to LN2 cooling. Consumer use isn't anywhere going to get close to that figure but it is still good to know that Ryzen are really as overclocker-friendly as AMD claims.

The upcoming Chuwi system would only be the second mini PC to carry the 100 W Intel-AMD Core i7-8709G CPU after the Intel Hades Canyon NUC. While the manufacturer is promising lower prices for early supporters and backers of its IndieGogo project, exact launch dates, availability, and prices remain a mystery. The i7-8709G offers a performance level similar to that of a gaming notebook with an i7-7700HQ CPU and GTX 1050 Ti GPU.

The next gen Geforce GTX 1180 GPUs from Nvidia could end up 50% faster than the GTX 1080, based on extrapolated data from the Volta architecture. Previously rumored to be released in July this year, the GTX 1180 might get a US$700 MSRP, but this could lead to more availability issues caused by cryptominers.

In the wake of AMD making its Ryzen 2 platform official, MSI has released new motherboards based on the new X470 chipset. Features common to all these boards include support for two M.2 slots with support for PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs, four DIMM slots, MSI Mystic Light RGB LED control software, and proprietary hardware utilities.

The i7-8086K would be a limited anniversary edition marking 40 years since Intel first launched the 8086 16-bit microprocessor. Spec-wise, it is very similar to an i7-8700K, but the base and boost clocks got bumped to 4 GHz and 5.1 GHz, respectively. With proper cooling, the i7-8086K could be overclocked easily to 5.0 GHz and beyond.

Intel might be looking to retire its 'Kaby Lake-X' series of chips in late 2018 and focus instead on a 'Skylake-X' Refresh ranging from 6 to 18 cores. Sales of desktop PCs and laptops are continuing their downward trend into the new year according to Gartner. Market intelligence provider IDC has released a report detailing the state of the worldwide traditional PC market for the first quarter of 2018 (1Q18). According to the data, both Dell and HP have seen increases in market share in comparison to the first quarter of 2017 (1Q17). A new desktop thin client and two new notebook thin clients from Fujitsu offer compact computing for businesses who use a centralized access server to protect company data and improve security. These thin clients run low-powered hardware but offer fast networking connections. The operating systems supported are eLux RP6 or Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.

Microsoft has released the source code for the original Windows File Manager that debuted nearly 28 years ago in Windows 3.0. The source code has been modified a bit to make it compatible with modern Windows versions and can be downloaded via GitHub and compiled using Visual Studio 2015 and above.

Pictures of Asus' X470 portfolio have surfaced online. The X470 chipset brings support for the upcoming Ryzen 2 CPUs, which are based on the Zen+ microarchitecture. While they look similar to the last generation X370 offerings, all of them now sport two M.2 slots and support for AMD's XFR 2.0 and Precision Boost 2.0 technologies. The new X470 boards also have support for the faster DDR4 3466 MHz RAM and are fully backward compatible with the first generation Ryzen CPUs.

In an event hosted for creative professionals earlier today, Apple executives clarified that the new Mac Pro desktop will indeed be released in 2019. In a somewhat surprising move, Apple will be working with professionals outside of the company to refine the product, which the company says will be designed from scratch.

Dell has announced refreshes of the Inspiron 24 5000 AIO and Inspiron 27 7000 AIO bringing Intel 8th Gen processors and Nvidia 10-series graphics. Intel has taken the wraps off the new 45W hexa-core CPUs belonging to the 8th generation 'Coffee Lake-H' family. The SKUs start from the quad-core Core i5-8300H and go all the way up to the hexa-core Core i9-8950HK. As one of the new aspects of Coffee Lake, Intel is touting what they call 'Thermal Velocity Boost', a technology that offers a maximum turbo single-core boosts up to 4.8 GHz under certain conditions.
