Rumor | Samsung W23 and W23 Flip will launch soon as the China Telecom versions of the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4

The carrier China Telecom is tipped to start selling the new Galaxy Z Flip4 and Fold4 soon, albeit in the guise of heavily-customized rebrands. According to a famous leaker, they will join the premium W series, which did much the same thing with the Fold3 of 2021. Therefore, there may be more exclusive accents and price-tags easily exceeding US$2,000 in these variants' futures.

The new Y32t. (Source: Vivo)

Vivo Y32t debuts as a smartphone with a choice between MediaTek and Qualcomm processors

The Vivo Y32t seems like the world's most unassuming new budget Android smartphone on first look, with an HD+ display, 13+2MP rear cameras and 4G/LTE-only connectivity. However, it is interesting in that it has SKUs with either MediaTek Helio-series or Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs. They have started at under US$160 in China.

The iPhone 14 Pro: still not repair-friendly. (Source: Hugh Jeffreys via YouTube)

iOS 16.0.1 is shown to recant certain anti-independent-repair locks in the iPhone 14, but not the 14 Pro

Apple is well-known for baking replacement part-detection measures into iOS, resulting in error messages and broken functions should a user dare to do something like replace their own iPhone's display. The new 14 Pro flagship has shown itself to be just as repair-unfriendly as the 13 Pro in the latest video from a prominent device-repair YouTuber - however, a comparable video may prove that these issues have gone away in the vanilla 14.

"Google Original Chips" marketing campaign makes a comeback for the Pixel 7 phones. (Source: Google)

Rumor | Compact Google Pixel 7 variant with flagship specs could be in the works

With the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, Google moved away from the compact form factor of the Pixel 5. While many welcomed the bigger screens of the new flagships, some bemoaned the considerable size increase. Now, a new report from Digital Chat Station over on Weibo alleges that Google might be working on a small flagship again.

The iPhone 14 Pro comes with the same old Lightning port that only offers painfully slow USB 2.0 transfer speeds (Image: Apple)

Superfast iPhone 14 Pro lumbered with superslow Lightning port running at USB 2.0 speeds

The wired transfer of large ProRAW photos or 4K videos will take just as long as with Apple's previous smartphone generation, since the iPhone 14 Pro's lightning port is still limited to rather pedestrian USB 2.0 speeds. Therefore, some prospective buyers of these new flagship devices might want to consider waiting for the very first iPhone with a USB-C connector.

Galaxy S23 Ultra may not be radical enough for Samsung fans as informal poll shows Apple iPhone 14 Pro and Dynamic Island are turning heads

An informal poll has revealed that potentially thousands of Samsung fans are considering a switch to Apple. Some of the main reasons for switching include the overall positive impression of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the novelty of the Dynamic Island notch, and concerns that the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S23 series in general will not be much of an upgrade.

The iPhone 14. (Source: Apple)

iPhone 14 seems to prove as durable as it is dissectible in a new drop test video

The iPhone 14 has been revealed to have a rear glass back panel that may have much more ease of removal compared to its predecessor. This discovery has moved a device-teardown YouTuber to check if this means the cover might come flying off if a unit is dropped onto concrete. Fortunately, doing so from various heights resulted in potentially encouraging news for those interested in this new vanilla Apple flagship.

83% HP Pavilion Gaming 17 laptop review: A good display at a budget price

The Core i5-11300H meets the RTX 3050 Ti. While most gaming laptops priced under 1,000 Euros (~$1,002) show significant weaknesses in image quality (keyword: color space), HP claims that the Pavilion Gaming 17-cd2146ng offers an sRGB coverage of 100%. We put the 17-incher through its paces.
