Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G: New leak points to a unique camera hump for the impending Android smartphone
Tecno's Camon 20 series can be said to have some pretty big shoes to fill, given the debut of the "World's First Polychromatic Photoisomer Technology Inspired by Mondrian Art" integrated into the 19 Pro's Special Edition. However, according to a new leak, the next-gen Premier 5G variant has developed a trick all its own.
Rear camera humps have been getting more and more elaborate as time goes on; however, most OEMs react to this phenomenon by simply covering increasingly large and/or numerous sensors up with increasingly large slabs of glass.
However, Tecno has reportedly gotten slightly ahead of this trend with the Camon "20 Premier 5G", by giving the device a hump with an extra sharp point that turns it into a mis-shapen pentagon rather than the standard rectangle.
According to a new allegedly leaked photo of the upcoming device, this new shape will house lens cut-outs for triple rear cameras and what might be a laser auto-focus sensor. The 20 Premier 5G may be in need of this distinctive selling-point, however, as the shooters in question are apparently the old mid-range stand-by of a 108MP main sensor, accompanied for others with 13MP ultrawide-angle and macro functions.
Furthermore, the Camon 20 Premier 5G will reportedly recycle the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC to drive its ~6-inch display. The panel is tipped to be flat and AMOLED, at least. The potential new Tecno smartphone is thought to launch later in 2023 in pink or black leather with 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of internal storage, Android 13 and no 3.5mm jack.
