MWC 2023 | New Realme GT3 brings 144 Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and 240 W charging to mid-range smartphone market

Realme has brought its latest charging monster to MWC 2023. As expected, the device in question its the Realme GT3, a mid-range smartphone that packs plenty of flagship features. As an overview, the Realme GT3 contains the following hardware:

• 6.74-inch AMOLED display, 144 Hz refresh rate, 1240p resolution
• Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset
• 16 GB RAM/1 TB storage
• 50 MP primary camera with OIS
• 4,600 mAh battery

According to Realme, the device's display peaks at 1,400 nits, which is not far off Samsung's recent flagships. Additionally, the 2,772 x 1,240-pixel panel supports HDR10+ and has an 87.9% screen-to-body ratio. Realme also supports the 50 MP primary camera with 8 MP ultra-wide, 2 MP microscope and 16 MP front-facing cameras. Arguably, the smartphone's most exciting feature is its ability to recharge its 4,600 mAh battery at 240 W. Realme claims that the GT3 can go from 1-50% in four minutes and will reach 100% in roughly 10 minutes.

Realme adds that the battery should retain 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles. In comparison, Apple only guarantees its batteries for 500 charge cycles before they dip below 80%. Realme will begin selling the GT3 in May. The handset will start at US$649 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in Booster Black and Pulse White colourways. For some reason, Realme has not outlined how much other memory configurations will cost, including its 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage version.
