Realme has passed on racing to be first to launch a smartphone with the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor. However, the brand now strongly hints at how little that matters, as the potential GT Neo5 SE buyer might get more out of the new platform thanks to the 144Hz refresh rate of their new display.
That spec is more often found in higher-grade smartphones, and exceeds that of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, now the world's first 7+ Gen 2-powered device. Furthermore, Realme has revealed in advance that the SE's screen will also be 1.5K rather than FHD+ as in the Turbo, and will support 2,160Hz PWM dimming and a 1,500Hz touch-response rate.
These are also attributes of the GT Neo5/GT3's "Ultra AMOLED" display - furthermore, according to the eminent tipster Digital Chat Station, the SE variant gets all the rest of them too. They included an elevated 1,400-nit peak brightness and fingerprint sensor integration: more areas in which the Note 12 Turbo would fall behind.
The GT Neo5 SE's latest previews also confirm 100W charging for its 5,500mAh battery. Therefore, it will also outstrip the Turbo in this respect, even though it definitely misses out on its flagship sibling's biggest selling point. Nevertheless, the SE can indeed probably afford to wait until its April 2023 debut to take its Redmi counterpart on.
