The so-called "removable SSDs" in the Apple Mac Studio aren't actual SSDs but just raw storage modules. Apple silicon Macs do not use the standard NVMe protocol but instead use their own implementation via PCIe. This means, it is not possible to simply swap-out or add storage at whim to the Mac Studio without matching the exact capacity and vendor and doing a full DFU restore.

Rumour has it that Apple is preparing to launch a refreshed MacBook Pro 13 next month at its March 8 hardware event. While the machine will showcase Apple's new M2 chipset, it will also see a continuation of the Touch Bar, but no display notch or ProMotion technologies.

Cost-cutting Apple M2 MacBook Pro embraces lower-level specs to gain entry-level status

The expected M2 MacBook Pro will have to cut some corners compared to the recently released Apple MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 according to a noted observer. While the potential MacBook Pro 2022 will be treated to new Apple Silicon, it will have to lose out in features and specs to become an entry-level unit.

The successor to the M1 Apple Silicon, currently widely expected to be known as the M2 chip, could appear in no fewer than four different Macs before the end of the year. The lineup of potential new Apple M2-powered devices consists of a MacBook Pro laptop, an iMac refresh, a beefed-up Mac mini, and the hotly anticipated 2022 MacBook Air.
