Not too long ago, we reported about comments made by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in regard to what new Mac devices Apple fans could expect to see unveiled at WWDC 2022. While the smart money has mostly settled on the revelation of the M2 MacBook Air, the second device has been more of a puzzle. Options included an upgraded Mac mini, a new iMac, a MacBook Pro 13 laptop, a freshly polished Mac Pro, or a redesigned iMac Pro.
A frequent leaker of Apple-related tidbits, LeaksApplePro, has offered up a comment on social media that offers some weight behind the upcoming appearance of an M2 Mac mini. According to the leaker, it will be “the M2 MacBook Air and the M2 Mac mini at WWDC.” Just about everyone expects the redesigned MacBook Air to be shown off in June, although availability could end up being problematic considering the ongoing lockdowns in China.
The M2 Mac mini would be a good choice for Apple to reveal alongside the M2 MacBook Air, as there would be enough contrast between the two (desktop vs. laptop, productivity vs. mobility, etc.) to show how the M2 SoC performs in either form without too much line blurring. At least production of the Apple M2 silicon appears to be forging ahead, as it has been reported that Cupertino has enlisted the assistance of Samsung for substrate supply.
