Chuwi RZBOX 2022 announced with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU
Chuwi is already preparing to release an upgraded RZBOX, a mini-PC that it initially launched in autumn 2021. Until now, Chuwi has sold the RZBOX with the Ryzen 9 4900H, an 8-core Renoir APU that featured Zen 2 CPU cores and an RX Vega 8 iGPU. The 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD from last year's model remain, although it remains unclear whether Chuwi will sell the RZBOX 2022 as a barebones machine.
While the RZBOX's memory configuration remains, Chuwi has upgraded the Ryzen 9 4900H to the Ryzen 7 5800H, a successor to the Ryzen 7 4800H. Still, the Ryzen 7 5800H should deliver upwards of 10% better CPU performance than the Ryzen 9 4900H, in part because of its newer Cezanne H architecture and Zen 3 CPU cores. Likewise, our time with the RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 5000) suggests that it should also outperform the RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 4000) by 10% in games.
This year's RZBOX maintains its predecessor's 19.15 x 19.15 x 6.09 mm chassis though, along with its bountiful selection of ports. Chuwi has not confirmed a release date yet, but the RZBOX 2022 should be 'available soon' for US$699. Additionally, Liliputing claims that Chuwi will release Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 5 5600H-backed models eventually, but only at some point 'in the future'. For reference, the RZBOX 2022 will come with these ports:
- 1 x 3.5 mm headphone output
- 1 x 3.5 mm microphone input
- 1 x DisplayPort
- 1 x HDMI 2.0
- 1 x USB 2.0 Type-C
- 1 x VGA
- 2 x Gigabit Ethernet
- 2 x USB 3.0 Type-A
- 3 x USB 2.0 Type-A
