It has been expected for some time now that not only would the redesigned MacBook Air turn up at the Apple WWDC22 event (starting June 6) but also that the thin and light laptop would be available in a whole rainbow of colors. Design renders of the 2022 Apple MacBook Air, leaked by Jon Prosser in late 2021, showed the eagerly awaited device in blue, silver, purple, pink, orange, yellow, and green. However, a recent comment made by Mark Gurman has scotched the idea of the MacBook Air arriving in such a multitude of color choices.
According to the Bloomberg journalist, the potential for seven MacBook Air colors is “probably exaggerated”. He offers a much more realistic suggestion for what choices Apple may offer, with the already existing gold, silver, and space gray finishes of the M1 MacBook Air being somewhat recycled for the successor. But there is one interesting tidbit to add here, with Gurman mentioning that the gold color option for the 2022 MacBook Air would be “more champagne like” - presumably making it lighter (in color) and with a more yellowish tone to it.
On top of those three colors, the journalist also teased a fourth potential choice for the M2 MacBook Air that seems to have pleased many of his followers: iMac blue (or just “blue”). The talented concept designer Volodymyr has created a great promo picture for the Apple MacBook Air all dressed in blue, and it looks the part of a fun but serious (in terms of power) laptop. The same creator has also put together a marketing image compilation, which features the M2 SoC, Touch ID, a selection of five colors in this instance, and white bezels for the 2022 MacBook Air.

The much-reported idea of the new MacBook Air coming in a range of “several colors” is probably exaggerated. Right now it comes in space gray, silver and gold. I wouldn’t expect more than those colors (though the new gold will be more champagne like) plus my favorite iMac color. pic.twitter.com/vYl56FOikg
